Axis Hiros, 18s & 6MT?
Okay, I am thinking of getting a set of 18" Axis Hiros for my 05 TL. I have the 6 speed manual trans with the brembo brakes and I want to get confirmation that they fit. I have seen that 19's fit, but I don't want to go that large. Can anyone confirm that the 18's will clear the brembos?
On a side note, I like the brembos as far as braking, but wheel fitting is a little annoying. Still glad I got the manual, but...

18's will fit...
I have the 18"Axis Hiro's on my 04 SSM 6MT and they do clear the Brembo's with no spacers required. The offset is +35 I believe.
I know what you mean about wheel selection with the Brembo's. I am really happy with the Hiro's though. They are my summer wheels and have held up well through one year so far.

Thanks!!!
Thanks for the confirmation. I also have a SSM. I am going to use them as my summer tires as well and use the stock rims with ContiExtremes as my winter wheels. Post up some pictures of your SSM with 18" Hiros. I see a lot of 19s, but never really any 18s.
And once again, thank you. I love this forum...good information, great people!

I ordered my Axis Hiros today. I ordered the hyper silver, however I am really interested to see the Silver TL with the Anthracite accent rims. I bet that looks incredible! If you get them posted, I look forward to seeing it.

Sorry for the wait. Let me see if I can get this to work. First time posting pics on here, so bear with me. Also, sorry about the poor quality of the photos in advance. It is either operator error or lousy camera. I have some more shots if this works, so let me know.
Also, before anyone asks, it is not lowered, and yes I need tint, and yes I am going to remove those unsightly splash guards one of these days. And I am very envious of you TL-S guys. I so wish they brought that out in '04!

Very nice! Thanks for the pics. I really like the look of the 18s. What size tires are you running?
Thanks again for taking the time to post up and answer my questions.

I went with 245/35 Toyo Proxes T1R. Was hoping for a little rim protection, but it doesn't provide much. I already nicked one up a little last summer.
Glad I could help out and yes, this site is full of great information and helpful people.

Okay...sit back as it is going to be a long story....
Sure thing TC. Here is the story...somewhat paraphrased. I needed a set of new tires for the TL as the crappy stock Michelins were way past due; barely lasting 22,000 miles. I decided to go with a set of all season ContiExtreme as we get snow in the winter and I only have 1 set of wheels. My wife called up the local shop we normally go to and put in the order as they didn't have the tires in stock. Of course, she had them price match the price on the internet without shipping to cover sales tax. I always let her order stuff like that as she has exceptional negotiating skills; which, as you will see, will come into play later in the story.
A couple of weeks pass and she gets the call from the tire shop. I take her car to work and leave the TL for her to take to get the tires and an alignment. About mid-day I get a call from her stating that the tire shop scratched all 4 rims (stock 17s). I was not angry at all since they were stock rims and my thought was to use them as winter tires at some point when I purchased 18s. I told her that as long as the shop was going to replace or fix the rims, I wasn't too concerned. These things happen. At this point, she switches into negotiation mode and the magic begins.
She talks with them and instead of fixing or replacing the stock rims with Acura OEM 17s, she somehow works out with them that if they replace the rims with aftermarket rims of our choice (within reason) we will pay for the tires. Not only that, but they price matched a price we found on the internet for the Bridgestones Potenza Pole Positions without shipping. So in the end, we paid for all season ContiExtremes (very nice tire by the way) for my scratched OEM 17s and paid for Potenza for free Axis Hiro 18s.
All in all, it worked out pretty well. As an aside, when she picked up the car, she gave her sales rep a small tip; which she always does when we buy tires at the shop. He tried to give it back twice, but she always insists. It may not have influenced anything, but you never know. She always keeps her cool in these situations. She used to work retail so she knows the right way to deal with people. She used to do sales as well and is really good at it. I would have probably just made them re-finish the rims, but some how she got them to go the extra mile. She has some serious skills.

Hey, GREAT looking wheels. I am with you %100 on the 18's, I drive some pretty crappy roads here, and I also think my TLS rides hard enough already without completely eliminating any sidewall cushion.
FYI, I just ordered my set of Hyper Silver 18X8.5 +35 Hiro's from Discount Tire on my way home from work today, with 425/40-18 YOKO Advan S4's. I got a really good price (But NO FREE WHEELS) by negotiating his price VS internet price. His original quote came up at $2,580 and I wound up paying $2,130 OTD including mounting, Hunter Road Force balance and rotations for life, valve-mounted (no straps) TPMS, locking lugs, lifetime structural and 1 year finish guarantee, and tax & fees.

sweeet pics TCTL....where did you order them? I'm lookin at getting them in 18" x 8.5 all around and in the same color....any problems with the +35 offset, like the rim sticking out too much or no? Also, those rims only come in 35 offset correct? no 45's?

Axis Hiro's
SSMTL04, I ordered my wheels from Wheel Warehouse. I paid $1900.00 which included the Toyo Proxes T1R mounted and balanced and all that good stuff. I think it took about five weeks to get them delivered. The name of the guy that hooked me up is Devin Downs (x5104). He was pretty cool to deal with. I am not sure about the other offsets available. Pretty sure they come in a +45 but I needed to clear the Brembos and +35 is the way to go for that. They don't stick out at all and look pretty good.
JD - TLS, I know I need to get her lowered (a little). Going to finish up the a-spec body kit (only running the front right now) and then maybe the a-spec suspension.
