Any experience with a lowered suspension and newborn babies?

Well I am now officially a father and I'm all paranoid since my TL is dropped on some Tein SS and it's kinda bouncy at times. My wife hated my car when she was pregnant.

My Tein SS dampening settings are 2 clicks in the front (from the stiffest setting) and 8 clicks in the back.

Does any of you fathers out there have any experience with lowered cars and newborn babies? Is a lowered suspension going to harm the baby? I have a Recaro ProRIDE car seat if that matters at all.

Thank you in advance fellas.

Well, is shaking a baby good?

If not, it would only help to reduce the stiffness of the dampers.

Back in the covered wagon days ... The suspension ( well the lack of it) didn't harm one kid . We are putting our kids in too many bubbles ....

I wouldn't worry about the suspension at all, your son/daughter will be fine, maybe soften up the damping a bit if you want? on a side note...the 3G is an extremely safe car and congrats on being a father!

Congrats! The ride would have to be pretty violent for the kid to even notice..... If anything the baby might like it. My 2 month old son has never been harmed or even seemed uncomfortable in my lowered TSX, or in my 2500hd. It's lifted and has some very aggressive tires on it. As HD truck, it can ride pretty rough to some, but as soon as it starts moving, he's out lol. You'll be fine!

Congrats again, it's amazing!

Kids are very pliable when young! Just don't bump the head and they'll be fine... However, I wouldn't drive like a moron with my child in the car/// only when they are out of it!

Congrats on the kid!
As far as the ride I'm sure it will be fine, but my question is why would you want to put yourself and your wife through dealing with such a shitty riding car? ;-)
Things are going to be tight in the TL for a long time until you can do forward facing as there just isn't much room in the back for child seats (especially when they are rear facing). My only recommendation is drive the wife's car most of the time assuming it's better suited for a child seat. My wife has an 04 Accord sedan and even though they are somewhat similar cars, it's soo much easier to deal with than my TL is.

You are being a paranoid first time parent. Babies/Kids are much tougher than that. Your lowered suspension wont harm the baby at all.

I have that same Recaro seat... it holds them in really good I wouldn't worry about bumps. My son is a little older now and doesn't complain about riding in my TL with Koni's set pretty stiff, only the wife complains. If you don't have a catback/modified exhaust I'd recommend it, puts babies right to sleep. I have no rear mufflers, my wife's car has Flowmaster mufflers, really soothes them.

Thank you fellas.

We are currently using my wife's ride, a stock 1G TSX, and that thing is cramped in the back with the detachable rear-facing carseat installed. I'm not even tall at 5'8.

Since I'm receiving good feedback from you guys, I'll be less worried driving my son in the TL. I have some Magnaflow cans and hopefully this helps put him to sleep later on.

If anything, I've been driving more conservative now than before. But I was never a reckless driver.

congrats on the baby and i also have the same seat. You just stated what I was going to post and that was to change the way you do your DD. Like JTS97Z28 stated it will be tight in the back until you can change it to forward facing.

4 out of 5 doctors recommend the Acura TL or the Acura TL Type S and any modifications thereof.....

lol, some people on here got funny responses. I've have my car lowered and had a newborn. The only problem you'll run into is that when they sleep, they won't get a good sleep because it's so rough or bouncy. They'll wake up terrified if you go over bumps, or wake up scared. I decided to put it back to stock and it went so much better. Save the time, go stock on the newborn til the baby can sit on a car seat, then lower it again like i did.

Don't attempt on exhaust, it will just make the baby go nuts because they are afraid. One thing to consider too is that always have the wife in the back calming the baby down. If it's just you and no one back there, it's just hell..

Make sure you burn a CD for white noise, that helped me for car rides.. Again, every kid is different. They can fall asleep to anything loud.

Vietnastee - first congras on the newborn, it sure a great feeling to be a dad. I went through the same issues you are currently having, I got rid of my range rover sport and got the type s, I kept the tl stock until she was about 1 year old, then added the coilovers, I mean she love my car, wife likes the stock feeling better. I try keeping the TL as my daily driving for family trip I just pull the MDX out. As far as rear seat space the Tl with a rear facing seat was tight, now I'm only comparing it to the range rover, it got better since I was able to switch to front facing. Like other say try to use the wife car if its possible.

Like Bouncer07 said, each kid its different. Mine I have to drive her around for her to fall asleep.
