Aftermarket Type S wheels

I dont want to break any vendor rules by adding a link to an eBay item but was looking for feedback on whether or not anyone has tried out those replica type-s wheels on eBay from tobacco road? One picture the finish looks real dark and another they look like stock ones. Any feedback would be appreciated.

P.S. I dont want to go aftermarket and dont want to roll the dice on used wheels from some other curb smacker.....

People link ebay items all the time. There's probably 5 fs threads right now on the BM for Type S wheels. Wheels and tires are things you shouldn't cheap out on. C'mon, OP.

Fred,

Check the Acurazine Black Market. Go to the upper right hand corner of the site and click on "Off Topic". You can scroll down to find the Black Market there.

I just bought a set of those type s rims to use as my winter set. I should have them this week. I sold off the original type s rims that came with my car as the original owner was a HORRIBLE "curb smacker". LOL I'll take some pics with the stock centre caps when I get the rims.

Here's the link to mine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-17x8-Allo...343329&vxp=mtr

I think they look dark because the pic was taken in the shade.

Jon

Hey - just picked up my replica rims. They arrived next day after I got the shipping confirmation! First thing to note is the color isn't the same silverish-charcoal look of the OEM wheels but instead a darker gunmetal finish. Despite the color difference these rims are gorgeous (only opened one box so far) and are far nicer than my old curb damaged OEM wheels. Please see below for photos of the original versus different shots of the replicas with different light levels. I should also note that the wheels were packaged well and were double-boxed.

Get the replica ones if you cannot afford the OEM. They look pretty much the same and not much difference in color

If those were available 7 months ago, I would have bought them instead of my A-Specs. They look really good for that price.

Are the lug nuts from the stock 05 rims good to be used on the type s rims?
I just traded my rims with someones type s rims, I kept the lug nuts of the stock rims cuz I didn't like the ones he had.

I'm saying, if you're gonna get Type S wheels ,get the real deal, I don't know about you but sometimes that e-bay stuff will have wheels that won't even be the same shade of colors! I've had a few friends order replica Nissan wheels that had that problem. If you're going for that kind of look where you want type-s wheels, just grab them. Try your local craigslist.

What is the cheapest real deal will be 2X+ that price? Sure if you need one maybe but the funny thing, I believe, is the the S wheels is that even the OEM vary in color so you almost always need to get two. Sure you can get deal on craigslist but then you could be looking at people plenty of crap and travel costs. Forget the scratched, the rim could be out of round and that might be a lot harder to determine. Who says the OEM are not made in China? The good news is the 3g had a decent production volume so now it is worthwhile for aftermarket. My motto is never rush to spend money.

SAE J2630 - Converting ATIS Message Standards from ASN.1 to XML

This appears to be a protocol for converting messages from one standard to another. Like for internet communications or messaging. Not a manufacturing standard. I also noticed the eBay ad does not claim any DOT or SAE standards for legal purposes I assume. Most manufacturing standards are ISO 9006 or something like that. It's like a fake pair of Oakley's

http://www.standards.its.dot.gov/fact_sheet.asp?f=70

The SAE J2630 - Converting ATIS Message Standards from ASN.1 to XML standard was developed specifically to support conversion of the ASN.1 used in the SAE J2354 message set into a stand-alone XML schema.

SAE J2630 - Converting ATIS Message Standards from ASN.1 to XML standard is primarily intended for use by ITS standards developers

SAE J2630 - Converting ATIS Message Standards from ASN.1 to XML, defines a set of rules for transforming an Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1) message set definition into an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) schema that is fully consistent with the existing ASN.1 message set.

well, I guess I misread the back. Maybe this is ok. The number is J2530 not J2630.

However, J2530 is not a widley accepted testing procedure. And at this point I dont know the difference between it and ISO standards.

actually J2530 is not a number generated by US DOT. At least I could not find J2530 by doing a search on their website. So while the format of this number looks like it is from the US DOT, it is not. So that part is fabricated and made to look like a DOT number but that format is like an information technology protocol format. And I have no idea what dot-t means. Whatever it is, they are trying to make it look reliable. Is US DOT the organization that approves this sort of manufacturing quality or is it ISO? Do our other OEM wheels have DOT numbers on them? If no, then all this sae, dot, stuff is a big smoke screen.

Just picked these up. They are Weds Sport tc005 that were discontinued back in 2006. They are very similar looking to the Type-S rims and could have inspired the look. Specs are 18x8 +43 and weigh about 17.5 lbs.

Very nice! Shame they're discontinued ...I'm sure a lot of people wanting 18" waffles would be all over those.

Thanks man! Honestly pictures do no justice for these wheels, they look wayyyy better in person! And these are gonna be hard to find since they've been discontinued for 8 years. I got lucky and found them on craigslist. And the white center caps are kinda awkward lol.
