Advice on lowering my TL please!

My stock TL is way too high in the air, i want to lower it, but not slam it because i live in NJ and our roads are junk. Im looking at the eibach pro lowering springs, or some h&r springs, any suggestions on whats best or pictures to help me get an idea how the stance will be? Also, which will last longer and not begin to sag? Any advice would be great, thanks!

Sounds like you should go after the Eibach Pro-Kit springs like Jesstzn posted or maybe the TEIN H-Tech springs.

Yep, theres a thread in the photo section. I'm in NJ as well and I installed the Eibach Pro-Kit front springs on my car last week. I like it and it is still fine over speed bumps, driveways, etc.

How are the H&R Race Spring Set? The Eibach Pro-kit says only drops about 1.0" all the way around to 1.5" all around. These H&R's drop 2.0" in the front, and 1.75" in the rear..any opinions between the two brands? Oh, Jesstzn, how much did you drop yours by the way?

Jesstzn is on the Eibach pro-kit which is a 1" drop all around. I think the bigger drop of the H&R would still be reasonable. Everyone says "just do coilovers right off the bat and save yourself the trouble". I kind of agree, even though I didn't listen to them.

the main difference is that u can adjust the height w/ coils.... if u get springs and is unhappy w/ the drop.... ur stuck with it, thats why everyone recommends coils (so do I)

Go measure the distance between your fender and the top of your tire. Then determine how much of that gap you want to eliminate. If it's more than 1.5" you will want coilovers.

Eibach and H&R are two of the best spring manufacturers in the world.

We also have some sets of springs on clearance in this thread:

H&R strongly recommends aftermarket shocks if u go with the race springs. They will signifigantly shorten the life of the shock if an oem shock is used. U could go with h&r sport springs which give u about a 1.5 inch drop, and still be ok on stock shocks. That's what I have. Check my garage for pics.

And note that JessTZN car looks much lower than mine does on the same springs (up front), probably due to the 19" wheels.

Parked out in front of the house (it aint much but its home).

I would just do coils because in the winter u can raise it back up and in the summer u can lower it and then for meets u can slam it!!

I agree. If I were going to do the shocks too, I would have just gone with coilovers. As it turned out, I found the Eibach springs for $100 from a local so I went that route with stock shocks to be cheap. But if I were going to do the whole deal (springs and shocks) I would just do coilovers instead. And if you want to come up here and do the install one afternoon that would be no problem. Just bring a sixer of a good IPA and we'll get to work.

haha I can already tell You and I will get along just fine, IPA all the way..I think I may just go the cheap route for now and do H&R springs, just ride out the stock shocks til they go, and eventually pick up the coilovers..The H&R's are only 230 including shipping and handling, so it's not that bad

I did it, went with the H&R Sport Springs from Tirerack.com, Dropping the TL 1.4" front and 1.3" rear. Nothing dramatic, but hope to notice a difference

Haha

Yeah you will def notice a difference and the offer stands. The fronts are super easy, and the rears aren't supposed to be too bad. Pull the back seat is probably more work than changing out the springs.

By how much will using lowering springs shorten the OEM shocks' life? I'm already pushing 126k on OEMs...thinking about lowering, but I drive about 70 miles a day on pot-hole ridden NJ roads. H. Techs most likely.

Thank you. Do you suggest getting new OEMs, or something aftermarket (if so, what do you suggest?)

126K on original shocks is a lot. They are due for replacement regardless of lowering springs. TOKICO makes a great set of dampers for this vehicle. The HTS series is an OE replacement but allows you to adjust the damping so you can make it softer or firmer.

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-226886.aspx

We are actually going to run a sale on these for $399 plus shipping. This is a killer deal as these shocks usually sell for $650+. Use promo code HTS507

so are the H&R springs the lowest (as in ride height) you can get in the "Springs" category and not Coilovers??
