Wanted to share my experience of driving the ASX after 12K miles which were put on in approx. 7 months. Initially I bought the Kumho after talking to the good people at Tire Rack. My criteria were low noise and good handling/decent milage milage. Kumho also guarantees treadwear to 30K. Well, so far I am not dissapointed with the overall package. They are much quiter than the EL42, provide a suppler ride and still handle well, not super great, but fine up to 8/10. The wet handling is excellent, just came thru a long drive from Louisiana- Florida, were hit with thunderstorms that left standing water 2" high-the kind of deluge where all cars put on their flashers and crawl along at 40mph or pull off. We were able to chug along at a safe 60 mph, not once did we feel any aqua- planing sensations! However, I am not sure I'll get 30K out of them, even though I am not hard on tires and rotate/align regularly. So might have to talk to Tire Rack if they are no longer safe before 30K. Hope this helps. PS The price of $95 is another consideration.

Thanks for your update. This is particularly relevant to me because I just put on a set last month. If they're not too noisy at 12k miles, I'll be totally ecstatic. I purchased mine at Tire Rack, as well, after considering comments from the denizens of this forum.
