40k and not noisy

I am running on Yoko YK520 245-45-17. I got only 25k miles. They need to be replaced already. I am looking for tires that can last 35-40k miles and not noisy. Anybody have had such tires? Appreciate the help.

The 520's have a 520/AA tread wear rating, so if they are gone in 25,000 miles, it seems as though they are on a car that has been driven hard. If abused, no tire will give 35-40,000 miles of use. Just an example, I have 245/45-17 S.4's, 400AAA, with about 17,000 miles and they are like new. Of course we don't drive the car hard.

Supposedly, one of the quietest tires out there is the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity. But these are expensive at $243.00 per from TireRack. I suggest you start searching on TireRack's website and pay particular attention to the noise factor.

Between my two 3G TL's, I have experience with the following tires all in the stock size;

o Bridgestone EL42's, OEM on my '04 manual.
o Michelin MXV4 (I think), OEM on my '05 automatic.
o Goodyear Eagle F1, installed on the '05.
o Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, installed on the '04.
o Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, installed on the '04.
o Yokohama AVID W4S, installed on the '05.

The quietest tires were the OEM sets since they are classed as touring tires. The quietest of the performance A/S tires are the Yokohama AVID W4S's and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus's. Between these two tires, the Michelins are better but you pay for that.

Isn't there a 60K warranty on them? See https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/yokohama-yk520-598663/. If so, you may get some credit towards new tires.

As Southernboy posted, the OEM Michelin Pilot MXM4s are quiet. They will last well over 40K miles in normal driving-- some people were getting 70K+ miles-- but are the most expensive tires for a stock TL ($300/tire incl. CA taxes & install @ Costco).

My TL's OEM MXM4s were replaced a few days ago (@ 46K or 48K miles) with the Yokohama Advan S4s, which seem fairly quiet so far, but don't know if they will last 40K miles or stay quiet throughout their lifespan.

Will Y...Yes, there was a 60k warranty on them when I bought them (Yokohama no longer offers any warranty on the YK520). I am not happy with the way the manager at America's Tires is handling the warranty process. He said he can give me 90$ credit on each tires if I get the Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position but only $26 for the Falken ZX ZE-512.

I looked at reviews from www.tires.com for long lasting and non-noisy tires. 98% of the reviews are negative, many of them are from TL owners.

I am now considering the Yoko S4 since Turbonut said he did 17k miles on them but they are like new. Thanks, Turbonut.

BTW, I don't drive hard or abuse my tires (my wife said I do whenever I tried to make yellow lights on turns).

I have the same Yoko 520's bought from Discount Tire 2 years ago - the warranty applied to all sizes EXCEPT the 245/45 R17. I have 32k on mine and am at the wear bars. Noise has slowly picked up past 10k, but not as bad as my Falken 512's (that only gave me 16k). With the Yoko's, my driving has been modest (been tempered by several tickets couple years back).

Same experience here, Mine lasted the same miles. One of the most overrated tires ever produced.
