40 profile 19 inch tires ?
Anybody have 19" wheels and tires with a 40 profile. Say 225/40ZR19 for example. Certainly, these would throw off the speedometer as the ones I am looking at have only 799 revs per mile ( 26.1" overall ) verses oem 17" that have about 821 revs per mile ( 25.4" overall ) . I just worry about the very small sidewalls on a 19"

That back tire looks pretty narrow, especially if you were to compare it to a 245. Those 225/40-19 Ventus tires only have a tread width of 7.7" compared to a Yokohama S Drive 245/35-19 at 8.8". More than 1" difference in tread width along with a section width that is 3/4" wider, but it all depends what you like, but I think they would look to narrow on a TL.

You have a point, the TL can run a more aggressive wheel and tire then the Accord without rubbing. A 225/40/19 is pretty much the widest I can run on an 8" wheel with a 45mm offset without rubbing like crazy.
A 225/40/19 tire will have a taller sidewall then a 245/35/19 but a 255mm tire is almost identical if you can run it without rubbing.

Thanks for the replies. I am not dropped or planning to drop. Somewhere on this site I seem remember someone running the 19's with 40 profiles, and am looking for feedback from anyone actually running them to see if they are experiencing any problems. Gen7Milan, the RDX wheels and tires look really good on you Accord. Every picture I saw of them make me tempted to see if any are still available.

Any TL's running 40 series with a 19" setup? Please share some pics if there are...I've searched already and didn't find much.
I'd think if you rolled the rear fenders it wouldnt be a problem running a 245-40-19 setup. I'm trying to learn why you can run 20" wheels on 35's and not 19" on 40's without it looking as good? Of course the 20's are larger but if your willing to sacrifice a little baller look for functionality and wheel safety, it seems like a decent tradeoff.

I’ve see 22” wheels and large tires, not on a TL, but on other sedans and SUV’s and my feeling is that they overpower the vehicle, but then again, the people that spend that kind of money for the bling, probably want them to stand out.
If they fit and you like the looks go for that selection.
Just like the above post where the 235/35-19 is only 25.5", slightly smaller than OE, but the 265/30-19 is 25.3, smaller than both. after they were the tire to fender gap grows and naturally the tires appearance will be smaller. It's possible in this application there may be a tire from a specific manufacturer that has the same dimensions, but I used the Hankook chart.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, or to say whatever the owner desires might be. A 20" wheel usually uses 245/30-20 25.8" tall, not certain as to the 35 specific 20" to which you are referring but if a larger tire and you believe they look good, go for that selection. Same with the 19's as the 40 series is over an inch taller then the OE. Also similar to the reversal with a 255/40-17, as these tires will be @ 3/4" smaller than an OE size, but many have used them and seem to accept the results, but I believe with this tire size and the wider tire to fender gap, they look ridiculous, a car on roller skates.

Three Wheelin'
I am running a 245/35/19 in the front and 265/30/19 in the rear. The side was is tiny but i have had Zero issues. I think a 19 with a 40 side wall and no drop will look like a Subaru, all off road looking.
Also dont run a tire less wide then 235, i dont get why people "upgrade" wheels to run a smaller tire then stock!

The two tire selections I'd be looking at are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or the Pirelli P-Zero Nero All Season (not MS). I gotta read up a lot more into suspension and wheels.

Just the thread I was looking for. I want 40 series when I get new tires for my legends because I have bent wheels before and ride quality only gets worse as my 35 series falkens wear even more. But I think they would look REALLYYYY tall. I think the accord still looked good because it was dropped... anyone else running 40 series on 19s?

Take a look at this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=RDX
The 19" + 40 series tires was discussed here a couple of times.
But be aware 19" w/o a drop = 4x4 look no matter the tire size, my
Good luck.
