Smile 3G TL coilovers install : why is rear lower ?

Hi,

So I have owned many cars in the past.
I'm really impressed with the 3G TL.
Like any car it's not " perfect " in stock form.

My biggest problem with this car is the suspension.
It's a 6MT.
It is pretty high ( especially front ) and pretty stiff.

My question is why did Honda make the 3G TL 6MT so MUCH higher in the front than the rear ?

I installed a set of coilovers and all 4 were at the exact same point and the car was higher in the front than in the rear. So I really dialed down the front.
I hated the look of the TL with a fist gap in the front stock and lower in the rear.
I prefer front lower than rear or all even at all 4 corners.

I have searched this with no luck. Hoping some TL suspension guru can chime in ?

Thx!

P.S - the car is slightly tucked in the front by a hair and the rear is 0 gap.
At low speeds it seems like the car has a slight shake in the front during acceleration only ?

Glad you got the height set were you want it.

I also have a slight vibration between 15-20mph only upon acceleration. Not too worried about it, but hopefully someone else can chime in that knows more about it.

ps. vibration was not there before coilover install

It's an axle thing.......higher u raise it the more it goes away....

Some guys replace the axles but I think it's just because the car is so low, I replaced my axles in my type s when I bought (aftermarket) it and I lOwered it the same day back when I bought ht spec coils for it...

Some people told me,we have to replace with oem axles($$$$),im good with it for now as I have 1 finger gap all around slightly lower in front.....the wobble is there but not as bad if u was to go lower,

If you was to raise it to about a 2 finger gap all around it will completely go away

I agree i hate how the front is higher. I have nuespeed sports i my 6 mt but the drop wasnt as low as I'd like and the front sits higher. I think i'll just save up money and get sum Form and Function type 1 coilovers, anyone running these on their 3rd gen TL?

OOO EMM GEE lol.. the front fenders are cut higher than the rears. If you want an even gap... or even height between fender and tire.. you need forward rake lol

i was all the heights trying to get a smooth ride!....lmao

they are just not the ones......the tl is a luxury car....u want it to drive like one, then dont ever get any basic coilover.....

to achieve the perfect height on every corner you will need coilovers,if you have a lot of weight in the trunk that ill sag it even more.....

ive had shock/spring combo before but i wasnt happy,i always wanted lower....................

if you dont mind stiffness then any basic coilover like tein street basis,f&f type 1,will work for you

theres actually some used coilovers for sale in the BM for like 400-450

if ride height is your main concern and dampening doesnt matter to you get air bags... i could care less about handling and im all about stance and the bags were the best move i ever made on my car

if better handling is something you want i could go with Tein Street advanced that offers dampening control

Ok so for those who are on a budget and want their car to ride nice ( in my opinion better than stock ) BWR coils. I bought them from a performance shop in Canada. (FPMotorsports)
Honestly they drive / handle WAY better than 2 other 3G TL's I've been in. 1 had tein basic other had function form 1's.

BWR honestly makes the car drive better than stock.
It STILL feels like a luxury car and in my opinion it feels the way Acura should have done the suspension to begin with.

Now with the vibration. It's mostly there in 2nd gear. (2,000rpm-2,500) I was thinking it was the axels.
I honestly love the way the car looks. And I love the height it's at.
So is it going to be a problem ?
And can others chime in ..... 2 finger gap all around gets rid of the vibration ? I will post up pics soon
