255/45/17's on OEM Rims?!

So discounttiredirect.com told me that I can put 255/45/17's on my OEM rims. I know many are running 255/40/17's right now and are having great successes. The only thing I don't like about the 40 series is the increased wheel gap. So I thought, why not get the wider tire, but close the wheel gap by going 255/45/17. Has anyone tried these tires on their car? If so, what are your thoughts? Also, could you post pics if possible?

Thanks!

Well, if you want a huge tire they will fit on 8"-9.5" inch wide wheels. They are about 3/4" taller than the OE tires and about 1/2" taller than the 245/45-17. Probably look like a Jeep with the oversized/tall tires, but your choice.

245/45-17 looks a tad large, not much but a little.

255/45-17, I think, would look huge - SUV/Truck-like.

Find a wide tread 245/45-17 - check Yokohama.

255/45-17 is a little too tall. Go 255/40-17 or even 265/40-17. Try a good tire size converter (such as :http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit to see what work best. I've had 255/40-17 Toyo Proxes 4's for about 2 years and they've been very goo. I'm thinking 265/40-17s next. Not sure if they'd fit the stock wheels, though.

265/40/17?!

Wow, let me know how that goes.

I think I have decided. I actually found some pics of 255/45/17's on a TL and the car looks like an SUV. that's not what we're after here. So I made up my mind. I decided to close the wheel gap, I am going to go with the Eibach springs and then put some Yoko 255/40/17's on the OEM rims. I heard and read that Yokohama's are "Squared-Out" in profile, so they tend to have almost an inch more on the ground (contact patch).
