245/40-17 tires

has anyone tried 245/40-17 size on their oem wheels? what change in speedo..etc would this cause? i am wondering since i dont want the sloppiness incurred by going to a 245/45. thanks all

I put 245/40/17 on my "05 TL 6MT. Michelin Pilot A/S's. They looked great.
Speedo will read about 2 mph fast due to slightly lower height. Slight handling improvement. 4 big plows on snow.

I would rather go with 245/45x17. Their diameter is just 1.2% bigger so the difference in acceleration and barking won’t be detectable. They would look better than 245/40x17 in those big wheelwells.
