245/35-19 too big or not?

Just got my hot a%$ Lowenharts, 19x8 w/ 235/35-19 tires w/ no rubbing problems at all. A 50mm offset by-the-way. I want to go 245/35-19 to put a little more tire over the rim. Can I? Please advise thanks.

How much room do you have to spare now? You will need .2" inboard and outboard plus another .15" to the top of the fender in order to fit 245's.

So it looks like I can't because I refuse to spend this much money on a new TLS and start cutting away at it. If it don't fit then it just don't fit. I know some guys do it but I think it would give me a heartattack. I just don't trust anyone that much. Interesting enough though I found a great site, and forgive me if someone already found it but the site is hot. This site calculates the actual size of a tire given and its size specification. Any number of tire sizes may be specified in the list. For each tire specification, the percentage difference from the first size specification is shown. This is useful for determining the difference in speedometer and odometer reading or gearing. Like I said the site is hot and I think it could prove helpful to us in the future. Check it out http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi

well, in layman's terms...

245mm is roughly 10" wide. your rim is only 8" wide. there is a difference of 2". i guess it would be split evenly among the halves. so i would think that 1" of tire width would protrude past the rim lip...do you have that at least this much fender clearance now???

Well I'll put it like this. I'm not sure how much room I have to play with really. Everything is stock though I didn't change anything except the rims (so far that is I might or might not drop it) other than that I just have a staight from the dealer TLS. When I look at the rims though it looks like they could use a little more tire like it doesn't blanket over the rim. Almost like it sets in and not out if you can understand what I'm saying. So to me it looks like 245 would be a "perfect fit". I just wanted a little more rubber to protect my lip. Maybe I should have gotten 7.5 instead of 8. To late now though. A friend told me that setting the tire pressure a litttle higher helps to prevent bending, maybe 35 or so but no more than 40. Even the Lowenhart manual said to increase tire pressure if doing "fast driving". Please advise my TL family I don't want my next post to be "bent my rims". I know there's no full proof way to protect your rims other than just slowing down but I'm willing to do everything I can to protect my investment.

if you are not going to lower your ride, then go for it because rubbing probably won't be a concern. however, also don't trick yourself into thinking you will be invulnerable.

If you don't drop your TL, I am sure 245 will fit on there, too. If you drop it, that's different story, though.

I also ordered 19X8 Lowenharts for my car, but I think 235 is enough on my Rims.

BTW, what kind did you get on yours??? Chrome or silver??? any pic???

I got the BR5's in chrome. No pictures yet but soon. I want to drop it to get rid of the big gap in the front but I want a nice clean drop, not that slammed to the ground look. I just want it to fall right above the wheel. As close to a factory look as I can get but at the same time filling the gap. What are we using for springs these days H&R Comptech? Any suggestions as to the one that would help me get this look and not give me a rock hard ride? And if it's just a little drop do you think I can still make the 245? Thanks

Paul, what's your offset for your Lowenharts? I think 235 is too wide. You sure that will fit without rolling your fender?

The H&R OE springs will drop the car just enough to take up some of the wheel gap without slammin' you car down and sacraficing the ride.
IMHO I would stay with the 235's. What performance benefit would you gain with 245's?

1. To answer Patricks question, I have NO PROBLEMS, NONE, with rubbing or anything for that matter with 235, trust me, I know I'm a new jack to this but I did my research. We can do it! 50mm off set 19x8 and your good. We don't get that true deep dish look though, it's a small lip. Can't speak for all rims but these are fine with 235's.

2. I guess there is no preformance benefit really. I just thought that the 245 would give me a little more rubber around the lip and make my side wall a little bit taller. If you feel that it wouldn't make that much of a differance, than I trust you enough to stay with the 235. Thanks for the info on the H&R springs. Are these springs good quality over all? No reported problems? Goes on pretty easy on our cars (no mods to have to make them fit)?

Mine is 49 offset I believe. I wanted to get at leaset 50+ offset, but Mike told me 49 is enough and that's what I am getting.

I will think about dropping my TL after I put LD's on my car and test the rubbing. I am thinking about getting H&R OE springs.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I've been hearing some mixed things about these H&R springs guys. What's the word on these?

How much are you paying for your LD1? Does that include tires or not? I'm hoping to get some new wheels soon too, but that all depends if I can sell my Benz and stereo.

It's about twenty five w/o tires. I think tire cost little more than 200 each, something like that???
