235/50/18 way to big?

I have an opportunity to get a good deal on some 18's with tires. Only problem is the tires are 235/50/18. Are these way too big? Im dropped with almost zero wheel gap.

Edit: title should read 'too' not 'to'.

Using the calculator they will be 1 1/2" taller than the normal 245/40-18 size.

guy selling them said he had them on his TL with no problems, he probably wasnt dropped though. however he also said that they tires gave his car a 'widebody' look which just ruins any credibility. Mor like a 4x4 look.
