Question 235 45VR17's

Those of you with this tire size have experienced any diference in steering response???
I'm asking because I think that steering response is a little slower and that the effort is higher. I dont have any suspension modifications yet and I have that tire size because it was on the
CL-S wheels when I bought them used. I would also like to know if that tire size will affect handling negatively since I dont feel a dramatic difference in ride quality.

Yes It Fits

Its currently mounted in my 17 x 7 CL-S wheels and it looks great. The problem is that I think the proper size should be 225 45 VR17.
I dont know if it fits in 17 X 6.5 TL-S wheels.

yeah, u gonna see that cuz the tires are wider, and therefor have a larger contact patch with the ground, so u have to apply more force to the wheel to do the same thing. also, chances are they are stickier(higher perf. tires) so again, they grip better. i dont think they will effect handling negatively. in a perfect world, really thin tires would of course turn better, but in real life, wider tires will hold the road better while turning, so u should be able to take corners faster and sharper.

Wider footprint will indeed provide greater traction, but will also affect fuel consumption. More tire means more power required to move vehicle. It's a trade-off between performance and economy. Normally we overlook economy for performance gains!

would this width of a tire cause a huge bubbling effect and if so, would that render the newfound traction useless? would there be rubbing on a lowered car?

im trying to figure out whether to put a 215/45/17 or a 235/40/17 on my cls rims. please help, need to decide VERY soon.

I believe it would be close to impossible to factor in the additional traction 20mm would provide. More predictable would be the compound and threadwear compared between tires. It all boils down to personal preferences. IMHO 235's on 7" wheels is pushing it to the limit. But indeed the additional 20mm in comparison to my 215/50-17 looks much better. I just chickened out at the last minute and went for the 215's. But I will get the 235's the next time around!

"im going with 215/45 in Bridgestone Potenza S0-3 s cuz they are on sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

No no no! Wrong size!

The correct diameter is 25.7inches

Acceptable 17inch sizes:

215/50 25.46
225/50 25.86
235/45 25.33
245/45 25.68

Too small :

215/45 24.62
235/40 24.4

For anyone who has any doubt that 235/45/17 would fit, I have 245/45/17 on stock 6.5inch wheels and my tire dealer has given me a lifetime guarantee that they will perform fine.

I actually put these on because www.acura.ca stated the wheels for Cdn TLS were 17x7 but they are not.

If I had to do it again I'd probably pick 235/45 or 225/50.

Without a doubt I think esthetically and in terms of performance, the 215's are too skinny but that's personal preference.

The 235/45/17 tires will rub in the rear of a lowered car when hitting bumps. At least they do on my TL-S...I don't know if the CL has more room in the rear fender wells.

they rub against 2 plastic tabs that protrude from the bumper and serve absolutely no function.... after a while u'll see that the rubbing stops, cuz the tabs will completely rub off. i saved them the trouble and just shaved them off with a dremel. takes about 30seconds on each side and no more rubbing noises

True, but lets not forget about your 45mm offset rims too.

As for myself, I'm planning on putting 234/45-17 on CLS rims with the stock 55mm offset and stock springs.
