235/40/18 on Acura TL 06 with a-spec wheels - Tire pressure?

Hi guys,

I just went to the garage to install my new tires on my new wheels (hypersilver a-spec 18x8) and they told me that the tire pressure for my car should be 32psi all around.

All threads I found on the internet tells me to have at least 34psi up to 40psi.

The labels I received with the wheels says 38 psi front and 35 psi rear. I told the garage about that but they were convinced that it needed to be 32 since this is what my tire pressure should be for my car (Acura TL 06 base AT5).

Should I keep them at 32 psi all around or should I have 38 psi front and 35 psi rear?

Thanks
R1ck

Just look in your door. It's 32psi. I put 35psi as it gives you a few more MPG's on the highway.

^well he strayed away from stock.

when you change rims, you cannot rely on the door.

As long as the air does not exceed the maximum pressure on the tire's sidewall, you're fine.
I would start at 34psi, and depending on the ride add or deduct.

Thats wierd because the garage told me that no matter what the wheels size and tire size, the proper tire pressure should be the one that is on the label on the side door of the car.. If it put more psi, they told me that it would be overinflated for my car.. Proper Tire pressure is determined by the weight of the car so changing wheels or tires should not affect the tire pressure that is written on the label in the door.. Can anyone confirm this?

Uhh, guys, there's a new door sticker that comes with the A-Spec wheels which states - 35 front, 32 rear.

what tires are you running?

some of the tire manufacturer's have recommended tire pressures for cars with plus sizing for their tires.

you enter your car and they give you OEM. but if you plus sized your wheels and tires...they give recommended psi's for tires for your vehicle choice.

i'm running +3 on my conti dws (235/40/18). seems to work well to firm up the sidewall and minimize flat spotting. my door sticker for stock 17's is 35/32. conti's recommendations has it at +3. this was the same for the toyo's i used to have.

you can play with the psi, to see what you prefer. you can run the door sticker psi which is fine too. depends on what you want out of your ride.

i read somewhere in one of the threads on AZ, the psi was run at 39/36 (stock), just can't remember which TL this was though.

Less tire "height", so to speak.

as long as the PSI doesnt not reach or exceed maximum pressure for that tire.

and the maximum pressure is labeled on the side wall of the tire.

I understand your point but did you ever heard about overinflated tires? You know that it hurt the life of your tires..

take a gander at these:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=tire+pressure

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=tire+pressure

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=tire+pressure

the last one is specific to the aspec rim...might help you out a bit to decide what pressure you would like to run.

So 32F and 32R is that safe for low profile tires (235/40/18) on this car?

like i said, 3 times...
check the tire. it will have a max inflation. DO NOT EXCEED THIS.
if you're under the MAX PSI, then you're fine.
I would start at 34 front and rear and adjust to your driving skills/conditions/wear pattern, etc.

if its toooooo bouncy at 34 lower it.
if you're getting crappy gas mileage inflate.
if the tire is wearing in the center, deflate.
etc.

I was advised in"here" to run 40 PSI in the 19s I put on and when I did I experienced inner tire wear because of the lack of give. Alignment checked twice at different places and all in spec including camber & toe. First summer running the setup I ran 32 and no issues but I took the advice of the "pros" in here and went to 40.

I called the techs at Tire Rack and questioned them .. 2 different ones and both recommended 32.

I also found running 40 PSI set cold at an ambient temp of 20 C ( 68 F ) would run the PSI to close to 50 PSI when the tires heated up ...

So if your running higher pressure make sure you also check it hot.
