2006 TL front wheel bearing replacement

Hello group, want to bounce this question to you all. How many of you have done the front wheel bearing yourself? I have replaced my rear bearing last week. After coming home from work I noticed burning smell coming from the driver-side rear. Touching the wheel and it was burning hot so decided to do the replacement myself. So I ordered a set of Detroit Axle wheel hub assembly see below. I was able to do one wheel in a few hours; planning another weekend to finish the other side.

While I am in the topic, I decided to check out the DIY for the front bearing. My question is that should I just replace the bearing by-it-self or order a wheel hub assembly like the rear? Most of the YouTube videos I see they only replace the bearing. Dose anyone have any experience with it? Thanks,

Did you check the rear caliper to make sure it wasn't sticking? Those can stick and cause hot wheels also.

Look at the youtube for south main auto, he did a front wheel bearing on a pilot with some specialty tools and had it done very quickly.

If you actually need a bearing....buy a hub and bearing.

Its not an assembly. it all comes as separate parts that you need to press together.

You will likely damage the hub surface as you take off the old bearing.

I would use either a genuine Acura bearing OR at least a high quality OEM supplier type (SKF/Timken/NTN) from Rockauto.

Same goes for hubs. Buy a factory one or at least a good one. Detroit axle seems to be extremely inexpensive parts of questionable quality.

Remember, the car came from the factory with one of the (if not THE) best quality parts in the world.
