20" wheels not fitting
Hi I am new to this forum, and am also a proud owner of a 2006 TL 6spd. I was wondering if anyone had issues with 20" wheels. I tried to put 20" wheels on my car but they hit the calipers. Has anyone else had this problem? thanks

guys, remember he has a MT and has brembo brakes, with a much larger caplier. for a 8.5 inch width, i think +42 would work.

LOL, this information is so misleading. To clear the brakes, you need to know the spoke design, too. Offset alone won't tell you if the rims will clear the brakes or not.

Offset has absolutely noting to do with clearing calipers. Space between wheel mounting surface and spokes is important for clearing calipers and it has noting to do with offset. Only time when those two are correlated is when we are evaluating wheels from same cast machined to have different offset. Than smaller offset means more caliper space and wise versa.

20" fix
You have to add in a wheel plate spacer between the rim and the hub for the front 2 tires. I just sold my Foose Speedster - 5's to one of my boys and he had the same issue.
All I did was go to "pep-boys" of your local car place ($16 for a 2 pack) and ask for "HUB" or "Wheel" spacers and they need to be between 2mm and 7mm in order to clear the calipers (depends on style of rims and structure), but you can "eyeball" the width you need. Then only issue I noticed was that if you have hub-centric rings for your rims then the spacers will negate the benefit of those rings and you may notice a shimmy/wobble and extra road noise from the front end and steering feedback.
Let me know how it works out for you.

Isn't stock offset +45mm?
If so, then how can that be "too high?"
Plus, his wheels are 1/2" wider than stock. That generally means that he gains 1/4" in each direction...
