20'' wheel help??

ok I have read lots of posts on here and have also talked to someone at a wheel shop, and am still not sure what is right? I want to run 20x8.5 wheels with 245/30/20 tires the question i have is the offset the wheel shop said i should go with a 35 mm offset because a 45mm offset would push the wheel too far out toward the fender, from what i have read that is the opposite?? would the wheel on a 35 or 45 offset be out closer to the fender?? and which would work better? my car is a 08 type s

Ok, the lower the number the more the wheel will be pushed out toward the fender, the higher the number the more the wheel will tuck in to the fender. I wouldn't go back to that shop, they dont know shit. You can play with the offset numbers here http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

On wich wheel would work better is going to depend on the style of wheel. What brand are you getting? For us with BBK we need to look for offset and wheel style. I had SEVAS S22 20x8.5 with a 40 offset and it did not cleared the BBK. I just got WORK wheels 19x8.5 with the same offset and it clears. My advice, test fit them before you get'em. Hope this helps

part of my problem is I have no where around me to test fit any wheels I like without buying them and then finding out. None of the wheel shops arround me have many wheels in stock and most have just turned me away telling me they dont have anything that will fit my car... I really like a wheel that is simular to the sevas s-22, its menzari m sport 20x8.5 35mm or 45mm offset just dont know if will clear the brembos

35mm will probably clear... if they don't... then get a 3 to 5mm spacer... good luck...
