I have a friend who has a set of lowenhart ld1 for sale they are 20 inch but what width i cannot tell. The tire measures 10 inches wide so therefore i figured the rim to be 10 inches wide as well. The tires on the rim are 245 35 20. Would these fit on my 04 tl. Any suggestions would be great. I dont mind if they rub a little i can always have the local car shop tuck the fenders and such.

10" will rub, you don't want to go wider than 9" IMO

if he's your friend, maybe you can put them on and see if they rub with passengers? just a thought

First of all you need to know if the bolt pattern on your friends rims will fit the TL. Secondly you need to know the overall diameter of both rims with tires; ideally should not be more than 3% difference. The difference between your friends rims with tires and yours with tires is 1.5". This is more than a 5% difference. It will not work.
