I just purchased a set of 19x8 AXIS Elite wheels for my TL, being that they're 19x8 all around, I was wondering if it's a good idea to install wider tires on the rear to get the staggered look. I will also be lowering the car 1"-1.25", just need an idea on how wide can I go.

I'm a newbie, plz take it easy on me...Lol!!!

Being that the rims are 8 inches all around I don't think you'd get much of a "staggered" look with wider rear tires...plus, you wouldn't be able to rotate your tires. I'd think something like 245 or 255/35 all around IMHO.

So, the max with a 19x8 is a 255?
I'm gonna try 235/35 up front and 255/35 on the rears.

Some may even tell you 245 is max...but I won't!

Neither....the safety nazis will tell you min rim width for a 255 is 8.5 inches...but there are a gazillion links to guys here running 255/40-17 on their stock 8inch wheels.
