blownby, it depends on what you want your tires to do.

you gave us no information on what kind of tire you have, what kind of driving you do, what size tires you have, etc.....

everything that is needed to determine tire pressure, you left out.

or you could just go by the stock tire pressure on the door sill, to make it easy on yourself.

Just daily every day driving with basic all season tires.

Just curious as to what everyone else is running.

to make it easy on yourself, you can just use the stock tire pressure found in the drivers door sill.

like i mentioned; if you wanted to play with your tire settings; you'll need a reason why.

do you need to play with tire settings because of tire fitment and how low you are?

do you need to play with tire settings because you want to maximize MPGs?

Do you need to play with tire settings because you want to maximize traction?

what do you want out of your tires?

if daily driving; the stock tire pressure found on the inside of your drivers door is perfect!

Also, different tire compounds react differently to pressure.

I ran strict summer tires; and they NEEDED to be a certain tire pressure to get the MAXIMUM traction available.

I run mine 1 psi for every inch over stock ,,, it was suggested 2 psi but I found once the tires got to temp they were inflated too close to the max.

I have different tires than you.
I want different things than you.

my tire pressure will be very different based on what I want the car to do.

the stock tire pressure is 32/33

if you're so ever inclined; raise it a bit to see how your car reacts day to day.

it doesnt hurt to raise; and you'll be experimenting and finding what works BEST for you.

you do know that Jezztzn gave VERY general specifications.

you're still going to have to experiment on what works best for you, based on his general suggestion.

I have experimented, a bit. ran it at 38 psi this summer.
runs good, wears fine, good mpg, just a bit rougher ride.

??More air pressure (38psi) less likely to hit rim if pot hole encounter than say (32psi) or just more likely to blow tire??

Some people might be surprised what their tire pressure goes too when the tire heats up. Setting the tire pressure at 70 F ambient in the shade ( which is suggested base line per Tire Rack ) then get a day where it hits 90F and run on the highway for a few miles then check them .. could be a surprise.

Anyway .. just food for thought.

Thats why I asked you what you wanted out of the tire.

if you know what you want out of the tire, you can adjust tire pressure accordingly.

always go by stock tire pressure than adjust accordingly to your needs.

that was a questions.....

will more air pressure help prevent pot hole damage to the rim or just be more likely to pop tire?

Sorry for confusion

yes, more pressure will give you a little more protection.

sorry for confusing you on my part.

It will also give you better MPG with more air.
