19's or 20's???? That is the question...

Ok guys I've been reading and reading and have a couple of questions. I know the tire I want to go with (235/35/19or20) so my question lies in the issue of clearance. Will a 20" rim with235/35/20 clear without rubbing? You are asking what is the offset of the rim?? THATS my subquestion. On 19' with the tire size stated above, whats the max offset i can get so not to rub? 20? I'm having a difficult time finding the style wheel that I want for this particular TL .So i'm wondering if I should say F it and start in on 20's.....SOMEBODY PLEASE...help...

Thanks
Duke

If you're going 20's you need 30 series tires, 35 series tires for 19's

I ran 245/35/20 with a 40mm offset on my 04 TL and I wasn't even close to rubbing. Check the FS link in my signature to see pictures of my previous wheel/tire set up.

From experience, stick with a 30 series tire for the 20's and a 35 for the 19's.

Don't rush into any purchases. Keep looking around until you find something that you absolutely love.

I was running 245's on a 8.5" wide wheel, so you should run 245's on your 9" wide wheel. If you are on stock suspension you shouldn't rub.

Just so I'm clear, I'll need to buy 245/30/20's right?

+4, cheaper, lower chance of rubbing, lower weight...and with the $ you save invest in a nice drop.

Ok, so what product do I go with to drop the car. I dont wanna do moe than an inch or 2. The streets here in Memphis are NOT exactly what one would call smooth. SOOO INPUT GUYS!! If I go 19's with 235/35/19 tires, how low can I drop it and with what GOOD product would I go with in order to do the drop?

I'd go with megan coilovers you can mess with the drop amount and find something that you like.

With springs, it's a small drop and the ride is crappy.

19s with 35s in my opinion..not a bad ride plus a little bit more curb protection for your wheel investment..

Get 19". The car is a turf with most 20" wheels. If you do 20" deff get a 235-35-20 tire. My car looked lifted with 245-35. But deff 19" is the way to go.

19" is nore proportional with the car than 20". The new 4G TL takes 20" like the 3G takes 19".
