18x9 +24 offset questions
Im looking into some 18x9 Saleen Replicas with a +24 offset all around. I have an 05 TL with stock suspension and was looking for some help in deciding whether or not that will work on my car and if so, what size tire should I go with? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

are you planning on lowering your car?
i've never been a fan of aftermarket wheels on stock suspension. i feel like the stock wheels look way better at stock ride height.
if you DO plan on lowering your car, and i would, then i would go with 225/40/18 tires so that you still have some sidewall protection but have a small enough tire to where you won't rub your fenders.

I am on 18x9 +30, I love the setup! I had no rubbing issues till I passed 2.5" (lowering).
As Shark said above, I would go with a 225/40/18 because of the offset. 6mm may not seem like much but getting tires and fenders to not rub can be a pain.
If you plan on lowering and rolling fenders, you should be okay with a 235/40/18, which is what I am on.

Ya, I am planning on that, looking into suspension as well right now. I have used Eibach pro kits on previous cars and that's what Im leaning towards at the moment. I bought the car stock in November and I just installed a brand new OEM a-spec kit about 3 weeks ago. Love it. Will 225 on a 9' wide rim work ok? I was thinking maybe 235/40 or 235/35.

Rockstar143 has 225/35/19 on his 9" wide wheels. Being a 35, the fitment may be a little different but 225 on a 9" is reasonable. The rim WILL poke past the wheel but nothing crazy.
Even my wheel slightly pokes past my 235/40. Just have to be careful not to lay them down flat and avoid curbs like the black plague.
Like I said, if you don't mind rolling fenders, you should be okay with a 235/40/18.

I can roll the fenders no problem if need be. A friend of mine has the eastwood roller which from what research I have done, seems to be pretty good. I just love the saleen rims and Im thinking it will work. I know I have seen some pics of TL^s on actual mustang saleens which are 18x9 (F) and 18x10 (R) so im assuming that the replicas im looking at should work ok.

Nice! That is the real deal, no baseball bats I would definitely have your fenders rolled to avoid any rubbing before hand.
inb4 Rockstar and all my friends come in here "I told you to do that too, you doosh."
I know, I know.
I was fine without rolling until the lowering sickness got a hold of me.
235/40/18 is what most people run, it keeps the size similar to the OEM setup so your speedometer and odometer aren't thrown off by much.

I know that sickness man, I seem to do it to with every car I own. I am still deciding on how much of a drop I wanna do as well. Eibach pro says its a 1" drop all around, but im not sure if that's gonna give me the exact look I want.

^it won't. trust me.
i had those springs and they hardly drop the car at all, and even more, it's an uneven drop. doesn't look right.
i would start looking into coilovers. tein sa, xlr8 isc's, megans, etc.

I've been wanting to get the Saleens (in black) for a while now, I just keep chickening out. I was planning on using the tires that I have now (which have less than 10k miles on them) that are 235/40/18. Make sure that you get the proper hub-centric rings for the wheels which I believe is 70.5 to 64.1.

I knew I couldn't be the only one thinking about those wheels. lol. I've been checking ebay and it looks like sets can be had for $500 or under, shipped. Wheelreplicas.com has them at a reasonable price as well.

Anyone have any pics of a TL with Saleen wheels they can share? To me, they look very similar to the 04-06 base TL wheels, so I'm having a hard time picturing it looking much different, especially with stock suspension.

i have 18x9 +25 squared @ 225/40, dropped on TEIN SA Coils @ close to no finger gap. no fender rolls, no camber kit, no rub. my next set up would be 235/40 because i dont like the stretch look. I do plan on installing skunk2 camber front and spacing the rear 5-10mm with rolled fenders though. hope that helps!

He is running 9's in the front and 10.5 in the rear. I would only do 9's and I am on springs. Not going for that much of an aggressive look. Not planning on rolling the fenders, but if I had to no biggie. Also gonna be on natural camber as well.
I was planning on ordering from Americanmuscle.com, they are pretty reasonable on there. My buddy ordered a set from them for his Cobra and they were good quality, plus free shipping.

Are you getting the "chrome" ones or black ones? I think it will look good, but it will look better lowered. I want black ones but I also want the hyper silver ones like those ^^^. I have black wheels now and I love them, but the specs are weak and are sunk in too much.

lol XXR makes cheap wheels
Varrstoen makes replicas...
Stock wheels really aren't much better.

I'd have to do extended lugs and spacers. Tried the "V2" spacers and they didn't work with my wheels.
Are you just spewing nonsense or do you have any facts. If you do some research then you would find that many of the stock forged Saleen wheels have been prone to cracking. These have been proven to be far superior than the stock Saleen's.
All wheels have to meet certain standards before being allowed on the road. So there may be "cheap replicas" out there, they are still following some form of guidelines.
Plus they don't sell OEM Saleen wheels anymore, so I can't buy the real thing even if I wanted to.

I looked at the saleen rims before I got what I bought. they look better than stock. Thinner spokes makes all the difference. And the price point is nice. I would rock them.

Ya, the thinner spoke definitely makes a big difference. so would 235/40 tires work with a 9 inch rim? or would I have to go 245 series? I don't want the stretch look either like styles109 said.

Dang... I am rethinking my wheels now. Id love to see a black TL with Black Chrome wheels!
Does anyone know the offsets on the 10.5 rear wheel? I HATE stretched tires so if I can pull it off without it this would be a winner!
Also does anyone have a picture of a 235/40 on a 18x9? I want to see if there is much stretch.

235/40 on a 9 would be a mild stretch. Doubt you can fit a 10.5" rim in back without a little stretch as well. Depends on the offset and how much you are lowered.
Most do a 215 or a 225 on a 9" with no problems.
It definitely wouldn't look good without at least a mild drop though.

These wheels do look pretty good. I would love to see the 9/10.5 staggered steup on a slammed TL.
