'05 Tire Pricing

My two left tires (Michelins) each have a bulge in the sidewall. My wife thinks they are defective, I think it _might_ have been from a big pothole.

Anyway, the dealer wants $293 each plus tax to replace them. Is this high? I haven't checked other places yet, but that seems high to me.

Also, are low-profile tires more susceptible to damage? I've hit potholes before in other vechicles and not had this happen.

Thanks!

This is true--less sidewall to absorb the impact. Your wife is right--You need to replace the tires to avoid a blowout. You can probably buy the stock Michies for cheaper online, as $293 seems steep to me.

Moved to Tires...

Try costco, they have the lowest prices on Michelins.

Goto www.tirerack.com OR www.tires.com

Check out what they have. Shipping is an issue though, but NOT enough to make the dealers price competitive. Shipping is @$34 to your door for all 4. If you buy tires online, you can expect to payt @$15-$20 a tire to install, balance, removal fee....everything.

TireRack allows you to compare a bunch of tires and rate them with specifics (dry traction, wet, snow, wear etc etc) You can also get a road hazard warranty from them. Oh another good thing, they have a menu that allows you to search for shops that they will ship them to and put them on with price ranges.

I was going to replace my OE tires with the PZero Nero M&S. They also make a Runflat with the PZeros.

Have a local shop or Tire Kingdom, NTB, or any big name put em on. Just call ahead and ask what is the TOTAL price if I bring you the tires.
