04TL Confused about wheels, tires, offsets, pressure
All,
I'm upgrading my 2004 TL (6AT) from the stock rims to the Acura (Yokohama?) 18" Chrome wheels. I've read several posts including the "04 TL Fitment guide" by Todd@Tires, but I'm still confused.
The post indicates that the ideal fitment is 18X8 35-40ET W/ 245/40-18. The rims I'm getting are 18 x 8.5 and according to the installation instructions, have a recommended tire size of 235/40/R18 95W.
Given this, I have a few questions. First, will 245/40/18 be safe on said rims? Answer is probably yes, but I just wanted to see what others have to say about this combination. Do I need to "adjust the offset?" (I don't even know what that means).
Secondly, and more relevant, the stock wheels recommend (or come with) 235/45/17 93W. The recommended air pressure is 32PSI in both fronts and rears. Why does the recommended tire pressure change considerably (32/32 -> 39/36) from the stock wheels to the 18" chrome wheels? Why does the load change from 93W -> 95W? How will getting a bigger tire than is recommended (235/40/18 -> 245/40/18) affect the tire pressure and load?
BTW, I ordered the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW...
Answers to these questions would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, the recommended tire with the stock wheels is 93W. Why would installing the A-Spec wheels make the car need 95W? Isn't load just dependant on the weight of the car? Do the wheels add so much weight to the car that it needs "Extra Load" tires, or am I missing something?
Also, what is tire pressure dependant on? If the recommended tire pressure is 39F/36B for 235/40/18, how do I know what the proper pressure would be for 245/40/18? Or does it not change? If not, why does it change from 32F/32B when upgrading from the stock 17s?

Technically...
235 > X8
245 > X8.5
255 > X9
However, you can pretty much put any of those tires on any of those rims; the tire will either stretch or compress accordingly to fit.
As for the tire pressure, I could venture some theories, but they would be purely conjecture. I would just increase it as Acura suggests; they didn't just make those numbers up...there's a reason for them. That said, I've always adjusted my tire pressure from the manufacturer's specs on every car I've owned according to my preferences and driving habits. Once you're accustomed to how everything works with Acura's setting, feel free to tinker with them if you like.

Question:
I own a 2006 Automatic, and i'm looking on ebay and other online boards looking for a set of winter rims. So my question is, will the 2004 / 2005 Fit the 2006? Also can I get TSX rims? If i find them cheaper? Are they all the same size ?
