Xenon/HID issue

Hi everyone,

I just swapped out my headlights to a custom set by JNC this weekend (who did a great job on them btw) and also put in new D2S Morimoto 5000K Xenon bulbs since my stockers were aging.

I drove around last night and both driver and passenger xenon bulbs were working great. I turned the car off which also turned the lights off but realized I wanted to quickly check the cutoff. I turned the headlights back on and noticed only the passenger side ignited. Tried again - same thing. Turned the lights off and let everything settle for 5 seconds, tried again but this time it worked. I checked the lights again before I went to bed and they fired up the 1st time. I checked things today after work and noticed the driver side didn't fire if I turned the lights on right after turning them off. Again, if I let everything settle for 5 seconds they both work.

I believe my battery may be on its way out but I don't think this would cause this intermittent headlight issue.

Possible bad headlight bulb, bad ignitor, bad ballast, just a quirky thing to deal with? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions.

Jon

Good to know! Thanks. I don't think I ever tried turning them on right after they were off before swapping out the headlights so maybe they've always been this way? You've replaced all the components I listed as potential sources of the issue so I'm not sure why this would happen. Hopefully others will comment.

Anyone else experiencing this? I can replicate it by turning the headlights off then back on quickly. Happens 90% of the time and only on the driver side.

Thanks,
Jon
