Windshield damaged by rock chip

Couple days ago I drove TL-S to work with 90km/h in highway,

suddenly a huge hit sound from my front windshield and I look around,

find out there is a dent hit by rock, it is around 1 cm crack,

I am very upset, but cant do anything.

I heard my friend said the crack will be bigger and bigger, is it true?

If I wanna change windshield , how much will be factory cost?

Talk to you insurance?

And your friend is correct, the crack can progress from other vibrations and soon turn bigger, my buddy had a crack in his truck, which started out small, and it's now around a foot long...

So get it fixed and i'd say check with your car insurance first.

My rock hit the far left side, right on the edge and the crack grew almost clear across the windshield. I live in the Los Angeles area, none of the Acura dealers around here do windshield work, they all just gave me the phone number of a mobile glass place! I have AAA insurance with a $500.00 deductible. AAA uses Safelite. They came to my house, did an excellent job in about 1 1/2 hour. The total bill was $894.00, but I only paid $500. This was for OEM glass that said Acura stamped on the bottom left corner. You can get much cheaper after market glass, but my TL is a lease, I wanted OEM so as to avoid any problems when the lease was up. If your chip doesn't grow into a crack you can repair it instead of replacing the entire windshield. Good Luck.

Since the crack is still relatively small, go to an auto parts store and get a windshield crack repair kit. The cost is roughly $12-15. It will by you some time so the crack doesn't get any bigger. It may possibly make the crack disappear so you can forgo a whole new windshield as well!

today I brought my car to do auto glass repair,
I think they just "dig" a hole into crack and cost me $30 CAD...
although looks like a little bit better now, but still not happy after all...
