Windshield chip

I was driving on the highway and the construction just finished paving the road while I was driving i saw a big rock come towards me. I had no way of dodging it now I have a big chip on my windshield. I don't know how much its going to cost to get this fix before I get an estimate on it....how much should I be looking at? Any good place in Harrisburg area to get this done?

is it a chip or a huge crack? if its smaller than a quarter, you can get it repaired for a little over $100. as long as its NOT in your direct field of view.

if its a big ole chip and star shaped crack larger than a quarter...replacement...refer to link above in response #2. if the little chip is repaired and the windshield cracks down the road to require replacement, the amount paid for the repair can be applied to the replacement (keep your receipt!).

rock chips suck.

Its not a crack its a chip about a quarter size. Places are charing like 120...before taxes. I just want to know what number is should be looking at.

You could have a glass company come out and repair the chip. Some insurance companies will not make you pay the deductible for this. I use USAA and they waive the deductible. You should call your insurance company and find out. It will probably turn into a crack sooner than later

I have geico and repairing these things is covered. they drive out to wherever your car is parked, pour some sortof liquid cement in there and seal it for a bit. probably takes about an hr.

that's about right for the price. if you have glass coverage you might be covered by insurance. get it fixed sooner rather than later. and dont' wash your car until its done. the chip may turn into a huge crack. good luck.
