Window trim question

the exterior black trims under window is cracking. I asked the dealership and they said it costs 200 bucks in parts and 500 bucks in labor.

1. Is it really that hard to replace?
2. Should just heat them with a blowdryer and peel all the black off and just have it showing the chrome?

what would u do or did u do???

I'd love to know the answer to this question as well- the same thing started happening to me now that we had some freakishly warm temperatures this past week (high 40s) and I think that paint cracked and peeled during the winter.

(I searched but only found threads referring to the plastic trim, not the paint-on-metal trim).

I know which piece you are talking about. I had to replace mine because someone damaged it when they broke my window. It wasn't that hard to replace, can't believe dealership charges that much for labor I can do it in under 1 hour. The part is about $100 from online Acura dealers

It's not paint, it's actually vinyl. Mine are doing the same thing. I'm going to pull them out and paint them this summer. Not spending the money to replace the junk. It will just do it again.

I just decided to blowdry them and peel them off. It comes off pretty easily, but the sticky residue that might remain.....WD-40.

I'm assuming you would remove the pieces before using PlastiDip?

I ask because you can either get the spray or the brush-on type, so I'd want to replicate the original look as seamlessly as possible (my TL is black, in case that makes any difference).

does anyone have part numbers for this trim piece (both driver's and passenger's side, front and rear)? also removal/installation instructions or manual extract?

Thanks for the find- $50 a piece! Makes me want to do it myself more than ever since as it was mentioned, it'll just happen again.

And seconded for removal instructions. Thanks buddy

I would just peel the vinyl off and leave the chrome, except it would look weird with my black TL (at least I think it would). I like the all-black look and the chrome would look strange leaving it like that, but that's just a personal preference.
