Window tint question
Hey Everyone:
I am new to the forum so I apologize if this is redundant or in the wrong place. I bought an '05 MT about six months ago, and I have been thinking of getting the windows tinted.
I called a local Acura dealer to get their advice on where to go, but wasn't super thrilled with what I found when I checked the place out so I found another local shop that has gotten a lot of good feedback on Google (... for whatever that's worth). It's called Performance Window Tinting in Columbia, MD. I called and made an appointment for next Friday. I have since read some of the posts on here about the issues with our cars scratching tints and using moleskin/felt to fix the problem so I called the shop to see if they are aware of it and whether they use moleskin, etc. The receptionist didn't know so she went to ask, and when she came back she said that they know about the issue and modify the existing felt that is already there for $20 extra per door. She didn't elaborate any more than that about the process and I didn't ask for more details because I wouldn't know any better anyway.
It seems as though the place is legit and they've been around forever, but is this something I should be concerned about?
Thanks!
Jimmy

I thought there was no felt in the 3G TL's, but regardless you want them to install felt/moleskin for the extra $20 keeps the tint from getting scraped up

$20 per door?
Sounds expensive to me!
Moleskin is $10 per door where I got my tint done, and they discounted the overall price for me so basically my moleskin was free...
Moleskin is a MUST for TLs. TLs are infamous for scratching tint.
Here's a DIY:

definitely worth it... I made the mistake of having the windows tinted on mine before i knew of the problem and within a few days i noticed scratches on my drivers side... Needless to say, every time i look out the window i see a giant line running up the tint... Spend the extra; you get what you pay for.

$20 is the going rate for the DC metro region...get the moleskin...and make sure they cover the ENTIRE rear qtr window.
the dealer tint installer shops....aren't that great. i've seen the work they did on a TSX wagon at my dealer in VA...bubbles...everywhere.

modifying could also mean cutting the sweep of which is not a good solution. no scratches, but more road noise
