My expectation was this problem should've been resolved by now. This 3rd gen TL design came out in 2004. Isn't it time to have ironed this out by now? The problem it is clearly there, I myself and everybody else who own the TL MT has this problem. I talked with the dealer customer relations and the engineer of the Acura cars. They finally have admitted this is a "known" problem, or known design problem.

Please be sure to take the vote. It's fun stuff. mm mm

oh... and if you even think about having "GM" word out of your mouth I will find your home address and will personally go kick you in the azz! I am serious.

The reason why I can't just leave Acura is because of their incredibly well built/engineered engine. They make some of the best engine, ever.

had the dealer put in the new acura fluid in last week and I must say it eliminated about 90% of the 3rd gear shifting issue.

If this worsens again I will get it replaced with amsoil transmission fluid.

You just can't let this go, can you ? 3 posts to your own thread before anyone else even replies + a poll with choices so ridiculous as to deflate any usefulness of the results (as if any poll has useful results).

Oh, and BTW since you asked for it.... GM Synchromesh Transmission Fluid Friction Modified. Now come find me and kick me in my "azz".....your bouncy cat best watch out for my dog though. Obviously I'm just taunting you in good fun, about the "azz" part at least, but you do need to find a way to chill a bit on this [subliminal "GM"]. Most of us with the MT have had our "freak out" over 3rd gear[subliminal "GM"] but lots of us have resolved it to our extreme [subliminal "GM"] satisfaction.

You just seem to be outright rejecting anything non-Acura, or non-dealer "blessed" that may resolve the problem. YES I AGREE it would be best for Acura fluids to work great in the MT. But what is your extreme problem with running an alternate fluid that is generally accepted to work very well while a fix may or may not be developed by Acura ? I'm not saying you should give up on your principles but that you should enjoy your car while you wait for a potential design fix.

So far no one has voted "Yes" for having this problem resolved in 2008. Anyone else? Is any Acura engineers out there reading this thread? Click "reply" and post here. I want to know if this problem will be resolved in 2008 and Up models. My TL lease will be over in 1.5 year and will be obtaining me a new car in the late 2008. i really really want to stick with the Acura because they ride very well, and that engine.... VTEC meow meow mm mmm I really hate to jump over to Lexus just to avoid this problem. If you don't get your act together by 2008 i'm going over to a different manufacturer.

My vote is no because then the dealership would have 1 less problem that they cannot reproduce. Thus they would see you in the repair shop less and their possibility of missing you emotionally increased.

No, and they won't solve it on the Accord V6MT either.

Hm it seems like acura reversed the problem. In the 2G TL the auto tranny sucks but now it seems the the 3G manuel tranny is no good. As for your car needing a car by the end of 2008 by then a new TL will probably be out (the 09 model) and if they are going to come out with a new TL altougher I think they will fix the tranny.

Based on the low percentage of MT's produced, it's pretty unlikely that it's high on the list.

I really hope that they fix the 3rd gear issue. If this keeps on getting delayed, there's going to be more issues than just the tranny.

OK.... Here is an update, based on my meaningful and powerful conclusion.

Ok kitties, grandmas, grandpas, boyz, galz, hamsters, gerbils, etc....

I have realized that the Acura TL cars are built in Ohio, United States of America, the entire car, not just the engine, but the whole damn thing. Well, duh, THAT is the problem. Anything built in America will have problems. No wonder I've noticed problems like this when I had NO problems from any cars fully built in Japan. Well, sons, we now know.

Next time, I will be searching for cars that are only built in Japan.
