Why are my rotors doing this?

I recently swapped back to my stock rotors and it's been about a week and noticed this:

It's on both sides, braking seems fine but dont know why it's not hitting the outer edge

what rotors were you using before?

Did you change the pads along with the rotors? most likely the pads and old rotors wore a certain way compared to the originals. Over time it should equalize i'd imagine.

why doesn't it make sense? I changed out my rotors with new oem ones because they were getting worn out. Then the new oem ones started cracking, so I put back my original stock ones...so essentially they are the exact same rotor but the newer ones started cracking.

looks like the pad isnt covering the full surface area of the rotor.

I think the pad wasnt greased before it was installed or the piston is stuck.

^with brembos you only deal with a single pad spring. Are you missing the pad spring George?

i would check if the pads are sliding properly on the pins as well.

when I put the pads back I just left the grease that was on there before, didnt put new grease as there was plenty left on it.

both the pins and the pad spring are both there, I would never install the brake pads without them.

I've changed these pads many times before without issue, and the brake pad clearly looks like its touching the whole rotor. however I will give the grease idea a try, its possible the old grease is causing the pad to stick only on certain areas...I just hope my caliper is good because a caliper replacement is very expensive

I was on my phone before and now I can't see the picture at all from work. I need to see it on an actual computer when I get home. If you cracked a stock blank rotor, unless it was turned way too thin, you probalby have a stuck piston or the caliper is cocked to one side.

it was only a microcrack, can only feel with tip of fingernail, not even with your fingertips. it was like half inch long at most, and spread out in about 3-4 directions. I brake pretty hard sometimes, but I was surprised the oem rotor cracked. when I brake it doesnt pull to 1 side or anything, so wouldnt that rule out a stuck piston?

i dont think its a seized piston though because i could still push them back when I had the brake pads out

Still can barely see it but it looks like you let an old set of pads go to the metal and wear the rotor. Now the new pads don't touch the worn area much as evidenced by the rust.

very good diagnosis. I'm fine with a bad rotor but I just hoped there isnt anything wrong with my calipers. i'll be getting a new set of rotors in a week.

Don't buy the OEM rotors again - they are garbage.

^ OP has a TL-S which has brembo brakes, which are fairly different than the 5AT's.

I replaced my rotors in my 6MT (Brembo) with the OEM brembo's from an acura dealer and i havent had any problems. I have about 20k miles on them but then again I dont track my car.
