What's wrong with my tranny???
Hey everyone I have a 5AT 06 tl with about 132k on it. Last week I was on the highway going about 60mph when I stepped on the gas my rpms shot up and I couldnt get into 5th gear, I then slowly started losing speed. After slowing down about 10 minutes later the same thing happened so I got off the highway and came to a stop. Once I turned left I got up to about 20mph and couldn't get into 3rd gear, rpms just went way up. I pulled over to get towed and while waiting I shifted into couldn't even move at all. I put it in reverse and after 5 seconds it finally kicked into gear. Once I got home I left my car for a few hours and then tried shifting and it went into drive and started moving, same with reverse. Didn't bother driving anywhere though in fear of it failing again. Immediately I assumed my tranny is shot but I've been looking into it and I see that it could be the gear pressure switches? I've never changed them before however I did get my tranny oil changed about 15k miles ago. Can someone tell me if what happened to me could be caused by the pressure switches. Also if I'm able to at least get the car to shift and start moving does that rule out the possibility of a failed transmission? Any help would be appreciated guys Im really in a slump here. Thanks.

Trans isn't holding hydraulic pressure, once the fluid gets hot it's thinner and can't work in the system.
Try replacing your fluid and your trans filter, that might help the issue and hold off a new trans for maybe a week or two, but it certainly seems like your trans is on it's last limp home.
