Get it changed damn it! lol

Whats the worst that can happen you ask? hmmmm, with 231 miles over, ehh, i dont know that youre doing tooooooo much damage, but if you go wayyyyyyyyyyyy overboard, you can have basically no additive left in the oil that helps in lubrication, cleasing, etc. Also, you oil filter will be far less efficient, as it now may be clogged up. Can you say, scrapy scrapy, lol. Juss kidding, thats kind of excessive. But with 231 miles over, its not that bad. Just get it changed.

i would expect that you can atleast double the milage and have no damage, but its not something you want to continue to do on a regular basis....231 miles past is nothing...i usually do about 10k on an oil change when i use mobil 1....

actually- the oil makers are well aware of the 7500 mile change the car makers are going with for ~normal service schedule~, see the ~severe schedule~ if you drive on or near the planet EARTH

They put special additives in the oil to give it real lubrication and cleaning properties. These wear out right about 8000 miles , because they dont have to make them last any longer than that!!!

Certainly a TL on clean engine internals (seafoam) can go farther on good synthetic such as mobil, AS LONG as you do a scientific test part way to get an idea of how much slippery stuff is still remaining and the estimated life span.

a few hundred miles wont kill the engine, but you can be certain that tiny oil filter is about full of crud by 7500.

some go 5 years at 1000 miles a year on engine oil, while others get a new warranty trans every year to avoid having to ever change the fluid!
