What Is the Source Of This Vibration

This is an 06 TL and at first I thought it was the usual 1500 rpm vibration most common, but it is not!
It starts at 50, peaks at 55 and goes away after 60. It is felt in the floor and does not matter what gear it's in (also happens in neutral). It's not the tires, the Michelins are perfectly round and balanced - plus it vibrates with the same set of winter tires/ rims that did not vibrate on my 04 TL.
What other possible causes? The dealer is stumped and is starting to do the "it's within the normal range" thing.

Only when at those speeds, it doesn't matter what gear or in fact coasting in neutral.
Perhaps it's a balance shaft in the transmission??

balance shaft in the engine you mean? i don't know if they still do that in this engine. it's gotta be some fixed axles or brake disks or things like that if it's speed related cuz RPM and gears can change. jack the front up and run to speed to see if it's from the front axles. if not i'd go check the rear ones.

I have had similar problems in the past, go to a place that can have the tires balanced on the car. Many times this will correct the problem. Most place call it Spun Balance.

i have this same vibration. I have an 06 also. The vibration is definately not any tire or alignment issues. It is felt through the floor and espcially the pedals

What is your dealer doing to correct it?

There's no place that can do that in Nova Scotia, but there must be some way to balance the rotors and check the cv joints/ axles for trueness.
I'm sure it's coming from constant rotating masses between the engine and the rims/ tires.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Best let the dealer handle this part of the investigation, or at least get your kids out of the family room before you do this in the garage.

Does this have anything to do that issue about breaking applied at 55-60 mph? My car now has 37,000 miles on it and for the last 2k miles, I brake at these speeds and my car shakes, vibrates. And when going at low speeds like stoping at a red light you feel motion as if you are gently applying break and let go, apply and let go, apply and let go. Is this the breaks?

...sorry, this is not meant as a thread hijack. lol.. if it is, can someone direct me to the correct thread. I cant find it.

Based on my experience, this sounds like warped rotors. If you feel it in the steering wheel the main cause is warped front rotors, if the whole car shakes it could be the rears or combination of both. In my 40 years of driving I've only had front rotors warp. They do 90% of the braking and by far get the hottest.

Not uncommon, but it may be linked to hard use of the brakes and uneven torque of the lug nuts, otherwise it shouldn't happen.
I don't believe your dealer will cover new rotors under standard warranty, but will probably turn your rotors and make you pay for new pads - but it doesn't hurt to ask for the roof.
Good luck.

I was just wondering how much have you guys paid. My car was vibrating at 37,000 miles. They would cover it up to 15,000 miles, so i have to pay for this. They tell me

219.00 for Resurfacing Rotors and Break Pads

Plus some 80 or 90 bucks more for changing my break fluid. (supposively)sp.. its BLACK.. and needs to be changed.

Looking at a total of around $ 309.00 For this service. This is DEALER price.. should i go with them or have some other place do it. Does this require ACTUAL ACURA techs doing the job?

I've had it done for the price of the pads, however, the pads were only 25% worn, the brake fluid was fine and the only issue was warped rotors.
How much wear was left on your pads?
Also I'm shocked to hear that your brake fluid is black, that's a sign of extreme heat which could be caused from siezed calipers or very heavy brake use.

Didnt bring it to the dealer and planning not too because seems like a characteristic of the TL since many have the vibrations. Mine is not any brake vibrations. only 1000 miles on my 06

My 06 only has 600 miles and the dealer has not identified the vibration source but it is not brakes or tires or engine (1500rpm) vibration.
Mine vibrates strongest at 55 regardless of what gear and with two sets of tires/rims - one set straight from my 04 TL that did not vibrate on that car.
Does yours just vibrate at 1500 rpms or is it like mine?
