What is this noise?

Saturday Morning I got my tires rotated and balanced. Driving to the shop, everything was fine.

After the tires were rotated and balanced I got on the freeway and that's when I heard this noise.

It kicks in at 50mph+ and gets louder as I go faster.

I can only guess it was related to the tire rotation.

Once you'll get this noise issue resolved, please do not touch anything else in your car.

It sound like driving over line dividers on a freeway. check tire pressure.

It's the whirring noise that is new.

The bump noise is normal, I'm on Koni's and Eibachs.

Sounds like your back tires were cupped and now they are on front where you hear the noises a bunch more.

Ignore the clunks, its the whirring noise that is the concern. The whirring gets louder as I accelerate

I'd say like 15k miles, 80% thread.

I can rev the motor to 3K rpm and no noise, so it's not coming from the motor. Car was quiet then I rode the freeway to the tire store, it was after the rotate and balance that it happened as soon as I got to freeway speeds.

I was thinking if it were tires it'll go away after some driving, but it's been a few days now and its still there.

I'm going back to the tire shop tomorrow and having one of them ride with me to hear it.

Not sure if it is cupping, but am betting on some sort of uneven or improper tire wear. You mention the tires had 15K on them - is this the first rotation?
You might want to try and see if you can alter the sound by changing lanes or seeing if the sound is still there on a sweeping turn or an on-ramp or off-ramp. Just some thoughts. My bet is they sound will diminish as you roll on some miles on the front of your car - unless the improper tire wear is severe. If this is your first rotation - you've gone too long.

I just checked the maintenance record, tires were purchased 9K miles ago. This is the first rotation, that I know of since 9K. I purchased the car with the tires.
I did try switching lanes today and going over the bumps on the freeway doesn't interrupt the sound.(not that I can hear).
I did notice that they put more weights than before in the fronts this time when balancing.
Before they were rotated, I think there was some feathering, the outer edge of the tires were browning. I think that is feathering?
