your insurance company will more than likely have it repaired by safelite (if you have glass insurance) and that is the smart thing to do. It's affordable and it works very well!

Also in the event it does spread or crack, they'll cover it and buy you a new windshield! I'd hurry up on getting it fixed and not drive the car with it there because there is a possibility of it spreading.

get is fixed ASAP before it gets bigger.

usually if its smaller than an inch in diameter they can repair it. if its larger than that....replace.

i had a rock fly up and hit my windshield, got a starburst crack about the diameter of a quarter. went to safelite the next day and in 30-40 min, all fixed. there is a blemish from where it was, but so far so good. and its been just over a year. its about $120 for the fix. if it spreads, then that amount will be applied to a replacement windshield.

^ this.

From the picture it looks like it might be in your direct line of sight when driving. If that's the case, the blemish will be there even if it is repaired. This could be annoying so you may want to push for replacement if that is the case. Otherwise, get it filled by SafeLite before it gets any bigger.

I can't speak for all states/all insurance companies. However there is a likelihood that getting that fixed will cost you 0.00. Check with your insurance company, they many times even waive the deductible for windshield issues. I live in Florida and my insurance rep (when I had to fix my windshield) said something like, "...with all the trucks hauling loads of rocks and stones and gravel, we waive the deductible..." This may be the only time you would find an insurance company acknowledging it was 100% unavoidable.
My rates didn't go up either. And, to be completely honest, my windshield wasn't repaired...it was replaced.

Your insurance company really wasn't trying to be nice. It's the LAW in Florida that ALL insurance companies must cover the windshield with no cost to you to have it repaired or replaced, if you have full coverage. A few states do this.
