Weird sound coming from the front right wheel??
So i guess acouple months ago i was driving and my front right caliper fell off and completly shattered my rim. Caliper seemed fine....i hope
Recently when im driving there is a weird almost like metal sound when i drive....like a scraping sound. When i stop its stops when i drive it starts up again. Im not sure what it is?
Any help??? Im going on a road trip in about a week and i dont kinda want to drive with this annoying sound....please help!

First off I would figure out why your caliper fell off. Secondly, did you inspect to see if it did any other damage? First thing I would check would be your CV joint, control arm bushings.
How did it "fall off"

Im not exactly sure......i got my calipers painted and i guess something wasnt tighted....not sure. Do you think the caliper itself can be messed up? Too tight or something?

I'm dealing with a similar issue recently.. Gonna do a visual.. my situation usually occurs on right full lock turns with brake applied.. I hear a rail grind from the same wheel. Yesterday I felt slight pulsation.. so I'm going to put it up soon and do a visual. No grind on the rotor surface.. hopefully this won't require surgery.

it's easy to bend the dust shield. If it is, it will be scraping on the "back side" of the rotor. If I recall, the closest, most likely, area that it would come in contact is near the bottom half of the rotor. if it's touching, yuo can easily bend it back into shape with your hands.

my dealership said that the backing plate (dust shield) is often the culprit for the cricket like scraping sound; and that if it is the case, my dealership they will just try to bend it back for free. However, if it is not, I will have to pay the 115 dollar diagnostics. So I check the plates myself (on the ground) and decided I will just ask nicely next time I get my oil changed and see what happens.
