Weird Navi Problem

Hey Guys, I got an 06 TL 5AT. Lately my Navi sometimes gets stuck when I start the car. What happens is that it comes on to the point where I see the disclaimer message with the Ok button, but when i try to press it nothing happens and after like 30 seconds the screen goes out (as typicaly happens when you dont press anything). Further, all the other buttons like the MAP, Setup, Information, Audio dont work as well. Neither does the HFL. The radio does work and my DICE unit does get initialized fine. I can change to AM/FM no problem. It seems like the Navi doesn't properly initialize for some reason. The problem immediately goes away when i just turn off and restart the car. This happens once every two or three weeks. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any info.

Well the OK button is done through the touch screen, so it's possible the touch screen is bad?

With an 06 i'm hoping you're at less than 50k miles; bring it in to the dealer and have them replace the failed components..

I don't know if you can get to the diag screen w/o hitting "OK" in the beginning, but if you goto the menu, then hold down [i think] Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel you will enter the diag screen. There's soft button called Navi System or Navi Diag, it will run a test on all components and give you a chime if it's successful. When I had my problem I ran the diag and the HFL Unit failed to respond, showing up red - so I took a pic and showed it to the dealer. They replaced the HFL unit, added the delay box, and replaced another controller that was causing issues w/ memory & temperature display..

No, the touch screen works, everything works. Just about once every two to three weeks, its random, it gets stuck. I tried to go into NAVI diag by pressing all three buttons, and it did chime and everything was green. So it seems like all systems are go. It's weird that it happens like that. I guess taking it to the dealer wont help much, cause they need to see the problem, otherwise they wont do shit. So i guess i'll wait until it starts happening more often and then take it to them.

Why this is so erie.....I am experiencing the same problem and was waiting to see if anyone else had the same issue. Just like you, I would have no control of those same buttons until I turn the car completely off and restart. I was thinking maybe my Dice unit is the problem.

Actually I DID have my nav unit freeze up once; shortly after a HFL phone call.. it continued to track me on the road, but none of the buttons worked.. nor did my radio or other things

take it to the dealer, the connections for the screen might be loose or connections at the back of the navi drive.

Hmm. So someone else with a DICE unit has the same exact problem as me?? Is there anyone else out there? I remember NICK saying there was an init problem with DICE. What's interesting here is that the DICE initializes and plays just fine in that rare instance when the NAVI gets hung up... but maybe it is perturbing the NAVI init somehow, which is certainly possible.

Oh and taking it to the dealer wont help, unless there is an error code or check engine light or something obvious clear and present they wont do shit. Especially that I have an aftermarket audio unit (DICE) they will immediatlye point the finger at the unit.

borgit....I've notice I get this problem whenever I disconnect the Ipod from the car. Perhaps I am not reinserting the cable firmly back into the Ipod before starting the car. Just an educated guess....anyone correct me if I am wrong.

It happens for me when everything is plugged in. When I unplug and plug back in the ipod it's fine or atleast I haven't yet observed anything wrong. I also think that when it gets stuck that initial beep that you hear when the navi starts up is not present. It's like the NAVI fails a Power On Self Test or something.
