Weird issue...little help?
ok so i'm at work, and then my factory alarm starts going off. so i walk outside, and try to disable the alarm via keyfob...and got nothing. fog lights and parking lights were also on.
so i put the key in the door and opened it manually...alarm stopped. i turn the car on and the VSA and ABS lights are on the dash. also there is a message on the nav screen. so i then turn the car off again, turn it back on and the message is gone and so are the VSA and ABS lights.
so i think i'm good...until i turn the car off again (door open) and i get the "chime sound" like when you leave your headlights on...but my headlights are in the off position like they always are.
hop out of the car and go to the front and my fogs and parking lights are on...even tho they should not be. the only way to get the chime/lights to turn off is to put the headlight switch on "auto"
so i do so, shut the door, and try the keyfob to lock it...and get nothing.
interior lights work, radio works, everything works like it should except for the above mentioned stuff. we had rain all day long yesterday...
any ideas? i really don't want to go to the dealer...

ok i'll go disconnect the battery now, it is the OEM battery afterall...
not many accessories and nothing is physically attached to the battery.
you mean the fuse box IN the car or UNDER the hood?

there are water drains and if one gets clogged, water could eventually end up inside the cabin...although I havent seen any reports of type-s models
alright i checked both boxes...dry as can be. so i disconnected the battery and i'll hook it back up in 20 mins and see what happens.
strange how my interior lights work, radio works, car started right up.
but they keyfob is dead, and the issue with the fogs/parking lights puzzles me.

any recommendations on battery and clamps?
...how the alarm just went off by itself. everything works fine now, keyfob works, fogs/parking lights work like they should, etc.
yeah i'm ecstatic that this is nothing more serious (i hope)
I don't know why our damn positive terminals corrode so bad, regardless of battery type/make. I finally got tire of cleaning the damn thing and bought some of that spray on terminal protector and pads. Seems to be working great. Only about $6 at Wallyworld.
alarm just went off again for no reason.so i walked out, hit the unlock on the keyfob...and this time it turned off. but the fogs/parking lights were on again...strange.
i hit the keyfob to unlock the car, got nothing. so i put the key in, hopped in...started it, no warning messages or anything. turned it off and got the "chime" noise again (door is open) but headlights are in off position (fogs n parking lights are on tho, but should not be.)
so i put the headlight switch back on "auto" and it stopped chiming and the lights went out.
got out of the car, hit the lock on the keyfob...nothing.
wtf...i knew i wasn't get out of this so easy.
called dealership and told them the story, they said it could be the multiplex control unit which is located in the drivers side door...
i'm trying to find a part number and do some more searching to see what the deal is...sigh...

Sorry for your troubles, Aaron. Especially on a friday.
being that your batt is 5 years old, i would change it(even tho its providing enough current and cca's)
if you find any threads about the multiplexer, post them up

thanks justin, i've found tons of threads (most of them on azine actually)
i'm having a hard time finding the part number tho...so if anyone can get it that'd be great.

According the the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual, it's in (or part of) the Power Window Master Switch, part #35750-SEP-A02, $141. #7 on this diagram:

yeah i don't even think that part exists for 3G TL's...just older models. i can't find it anywhere...
edit : power window master switch...? is that the same as the multiplex? i thought the module was located in or near the fusebox

According to the ETS manual, the Door Multiplex Control Unit is the Power Window Master Switch.
The MICU (Multiplex Integrated Control Unit) is near, behind, or part of the under dash fuse box, not really sure. I assumed since they told you it was the unit in the door, they are referring to the DMCU...which is the PWMS.

because i'm better than you.
Yeah, don't know. Looks like the DMCU interfaces with the keylock, but not sure how it would relate to your parking lights being on. He may have indeed meant the MICU instead....or the Gauge control module.
Here's the scans for the DMCU:

Think the MICU is part #28 in this diagram:

thank you, that's where i thought it was too.
do you think this would be something covered under the 100k acuracare warranty? i'm at 42k now so still under the 50k warranty as well.
idk a lot about the electronics portion of that warranty so i thought i'd ask...

Definitely let them fuss over fixing this, it's on them...
ps. These fuses go to MICU:
under hood: 13/16
under dash: 7/8/21/32
Might want to check them...

Security System Sounds by Itself
Currently Applies To: ’07–08 MDXs, ’07–08 RDXs,
’05–08 RLs, ’04–08 TLs, and ’04–08 TSXs
When the security system sounds, the B-CAN stores
the last input (security breach history data) that set
off the alarm. If you’ve got a vehicle in your shop
because the security system sounded by itself for no
apparent reason, you can use the HDS to access
that stored history data to help you find and fix the
problem. Once you’ve found and fixed the problem,
you’ll then want to use the HDS to clear that history
data before you wrap things up. Here’s how you do it:
To access the last security breach history data:
1. Connect the HDS to the 16P DLC.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. From the System Selection Menu, select BODY
ELECTRICAL.
4. From the Mode Menu, select Security.
5. From the Security Menu, select HISTORY
DATA.
6. Scroll down and select the last entry posted.
To clear the last security breach history data
after you’ve found and fixed the problem:
1. Return to the Security Menu, and select
HISTORY CLEAR.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
3. Disconnect the HDS.

went n got a battery on saturday, everything has been fine since it was replaced.
however, i'm still getting this message everytime i start my car. it says ABS, VSA & TCS "may" not operate...but everything works like it should. i def have control of my ABS and VSA is operating correctly...even tho the lights are on...so everything works 100% like it should and these lights are annoying me.

this is how it looks on my dash.

exclamation point w/ triangle, VSA, ABS and BRAKE are all lit up.
so at this point, how can i clear these codes (dash lights)? i unhooked the new battery for a 1/2 hour hoping it would get rid of the codes...but nothing.
do i have to go to the dealer to get these cleared? and how are they going to do it?

Take it to the dealer and let them sort it out. There are too many symptoms for you to try tracking down, especially with the convoluted troubleshooting procedures mentioned in the SM. Dealer will charge $125 for diagnosis, which comes off the top of any work they may charge you for. However, given your mileage, this should all be covered under warranty. Good thing, especially if it is the MICU.
I would advise you NOT to clear the codes from the computer. Let the dealer do it.

thanks dwb, that's what i'll regretfully do.
...i hate the dealership. you never know what the hell they're doing to your car.
nhb, i know the battery is covered but it's a shitty 550cca battery and the one i replaced is 750 and has a better warranty. i'd rather just get a nicer battery for $60.

Actually, I have not had a bad experience at Frankel yet. They replaced the tranny in my '00 and did some TSB work for my '06. I've been pretty happy with them. If you schedule early enough, you can even pick out the loaner car they give you!
you haven't had any problems when you pick up your car? scratches, dents, anything?
bc the one time i went there, i went to pick up the car and there was all sorts of mud and dirt all lodged in my exhaust tips...like they had backed into a mulch pile or something.
that annoyed me...mainly bc i could not imagine how that was even possible within their parking lot.
