Weird HID Headlight Problem

Hi Everyone. Im new to the forums and im not very mechanically inclined so i apologize if im asking a stupid question.
Im having a problem with my HID headlights.
Last week i got pulled over by cops for having my DRIVER side Hid bulb out. It was the first time i had knowledge of the problem. So i ordered a pair of kaixen replacment bulbs and had my mechanic install them both. After the install it was having the same problem, it was still out. He checked all my fuses under the hood and they were all good.
Last night BOTH sides wernt working, So ive been driving with my DRLs at night. Only 1 time both lights worked last night but never again. On my way to work this morning the DRIVER side worked but the passenger side was out!
What Could be the problem? I did a search on the forums and noticed that the common problem for this is the ballist/ignitor.i believe theres a set each for both sides. I think my problem might be differnt since both sides are acting up. What are the chances of the ballast/ignitor malfunctioning on both sides at the same time?
Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

I'd lean towards the harness they're on, since its a common connection between both lights....just check the wiring and see if you notice anything suspicious. Also, check to see if they're connected correctly (e.g. +/-'s in the right place).

I've never had to mess with my lights yet. But based on your description of the problem, you might want to use a voltmeter to check the connections to the ballasts and lights to make sure you're getting power. Then you can isolate the problem to one fixture or the other (or both).

I got another mechanic to take a look and he said right away that both of my ballast or ignitors are no good. He said I'm better off getting an aftermarket hid kit since the dealer will charge me around $1600 to fix it. I know majority of aftermarket hid kits are cheap in quality.
Are there any good kits out there?

I had the same problem within a 4 month span both of my ignitors went out. Check the ignitors to see if they are burning the bulb. But my other 04 TL has the original ballasts. Go thru our several Acura vendors on here to buy the parts. They aren't too expensive compared to the regular dealership mark ups. Or you could see if your Acura dealership price matches. Good luck!

+1 to this comment. When I had to replace bulbs and a ballast a year and a half ago, this is the best place I found to score these while getting OEM quality and not being ripped off at the stealership.

Their customer service is top-notch as well. They won me over with the way they helped me out.

Thanks a lot guys! I gave TRS a call and they were very helpful. The guy said all I need was the bulbs, ballast and 9006 female assembly. He customized an order for me and gave me a coupon code for cheaper shipping since I'm in Canada. Hope this fixes the problem. I'll update you guys once I recieve the parts and get them installed.

Problem Solved!
Got my new mechanic to install the ballast today and everythng works now. The parts used were a pair of Marimoto 3-5 ballast,Marimoto 3-5 6000k D2S bulbs and just a pair of 9006 female connecters. (wiring harness is not needed for 3g TL since our cars are already equipped with HID )
I ordered the parts from The Retrofit Source, and it only came upto $147 including shipping to canada !
Lights look great! Nice upgrade from the factory lights
Thanks again for your help guys!
