Wait or get it repaired?

Hey everyone,

So my 08 TL-S 6MT has been suffering from the 3rd gear problem with only less then 9800km on it. It pops out, hard to get into gear, blah blah blah, just plain annoying and embarassing especially when you have others in the car.

When I first got the car, I took it in within the first 3 weeks complainiing about the notchy feeling of the third gear and after a mechanic took it for a test drive he told me it was a normal characteristic of a type s close ratio gear box. However we all know now that isn't the case.

My question is, should I take it in now and get it fixed? Or shold I wait till I have more usage on the clutch and then get it repaired and have the clutch replaced at the same time? I'm not sure how much the clutch will be worn by then and even if it'll make a difference. Also the longer I wait, will it hurt my chances of getting it repaired under warranty?

I say go to the dealer and and have it fixed ASAP..

I had my 3rd gear set replaced on my 07 tls. It took a couple of trips to the dealer but they finally did it.

grsd,

You should still be under warranty. Get that baby fixed on Acura's dime.

My 05 TL is going in Monday for the same problem...it took 3 trips to the dealership before they acknowledged the problem...and 3 weeks for them to schedule it in...now I am almost out from under warrenty...but they are going to fix it. Your clutch should last WAY past the expiration of your warrenty...Get it fixed now. Good luck...

No point in waiting. I would never be comfortable driving my car with a problem, especially if it was free to fix.
