Post VSA and Temperature Hand

Hello to all Acura owners, I’m new to the site and currently a Acura owner. I’ve been an Acura owner for a 1 year and 3 months. I have a 2005 Acura TL. This is a used car, this car was purchased by my now ex and its been giving problems since this car was given to me. For starters when I crank my car up and put it into gear I have to shift into low before I can pull off then I have to put the car in drive. My mechanic has put new selectors on it and assuming it would fix the problem it didn’t, but I manage to still drive it.

However I’ve run into tons of other issues with this car which one in particular is quite new. So as of lately my VSA has been randomly coming on and when the VSA comes on the temperature hand goes up then the car seems as if it wants to shut off, but I calmly pull to the side and turn the car off and wait for a few minutes and turn the car back on. And when I do so the issue is still there so I have to turn the car off at least 3 or 4 more times for the VSA to go off. Now when doing so the temperature hand always goes back to the original spot that it supposed to be in. But when I pull off and the issue arises again. Also if this helps any when I put on brakes I hear this loud dragging noise as if my brakes or my rotors are going bad could this be the problem. I hope I summed up my problem and hopefully I can get pointed in the right direction.

sounds like the car was never taken care of...
it needs a lot of TLC in the form of repairs and replacement parts...
it needs tender love and care.
it needs to be fully looked over by a competent mechanic....not one that changes unnecessary parts like putting in a new selector thinking it will fix a transmission issue...
if you cannot afford all of these repairs, the car will get worse.
it needs a full overhaul...meaning, everything that is broken on the car needs to be repaired or replaced. if not, you will have a $3200 paper weight

from what you have described here; at minimum it needs a transmission overhaul, it needs gaskets and seals like the head gasket, it needs brakes, it needs a lot of work.
