VSA Questions - 05 TL
VSA Questions - 05 TL
I recently bought a used 05 TL. I've never owned an auto with a VSA, so I wasn't sure what was going on when it kicked in the first time out of no where. I restarted the engine, the indicator light went off and it drove normally. I thought it was a one-time thing. It was wet outside but I've driven in much worse conditions and definitely wasn't losing control of the vehicle.
Since then, the vsa feature has kicked in approx 10 times, and its happening 1-2 times on every trip I take.
I've since had a diagnostic check done and these are the codes that came up:
61-01 - battery voltage failure
66-01 - brake pressure sensor failure
68-01 - brake sw. failure
86-01 - CAN relation failure
Not sure what is causing the problem. I think the battery error is a result of me disconnecting it a couple weeks before the trouble started, when I was hooking up a sirius radio.
Any suggestions, and what kind of repair bill am I looking at?

You tell the tech to clear it then drive it around and make sure those codes reappear? Sounds like a battery issue or something is getting low voltage. Sure all the terminals are connected tight and so on? When you hooked up the sirius did you tap into the right wires?
When VSA "kicks in", the indicator light (!) should flash breifly, then go out. You should not have to restart the car to clear the (!). And the "vsa" should not be on at all - that indicates a system error/malfunction.
The Brake Sensor failure could be the problem. You really need to troubleshoot the VSA system components. Dealer trip if it was me.
