My 2004 tl I just purchased it a month ago. Before purchase It had sat 5 years. I've fixed the cel and abs but the vsa light keeps coming back. I throws a code for brake light switch failure replaced the switch and checked grounds still comes back after hitting the brakes. I've noticed while bleeding brakes a few of my leds are out while a friend had the pedal pressed. Would bad lights cause the code? All fuses good also. please chime in thanks
What's the code? Car has no ability to determine if brake lights are even connected, so bad leds will look bad but not cause any dashboard lights / codes (unless they are shorted, but that would burn fuse and make them stop illuminating).
Replaced the switch spacer abs sensors on the way or speed sensors
you have to fix that bad wheel speed sensor first according to the book for this code to get cleared out.
Check brake fluid level and add as necessary. The float is part of the system and can be causing issues. Then check the wires going from the switch to VSA modulator:
Check the speed sensor for damage/debris or just replace with a new sensor since you're already there.
Otherwise, it could be a damaged encoder on the wheel bearing but that usually doesn't happen unless someone just recently worked on it.
That brake light switch DTC will come on randomly but usually doesn't trigger a light on the dash. I wouldn't worry about it.
