Vibration during Braking - Stop Tech Brakes

Installed complete Stop Tech slotted rotor and pads last November 2016 at 61,900. Also replaced brake lines with steel lines with complete fluid flush. Vehicle now has 64,335 and has started having vibration during braking. That is hardly 2,400 miles. What could this be? Is there a way the rotor could warp that quickly?? Performance of brakes up to this issue have been excellent. The vehicle has not been tracked or raced at all.

Rotors don't warp, so what you are feeling is the build up of pad material that has impregnated the rotor surface at various areas has caused the variation in rotor thickness. This in turn causes the pads to move in and out over the uneven surface and that is transferred into the pedal, steering assembly.

You can use a pad made with "hard" material, and this will actually clean off the rotor and hopefully get it back to normal.

I had this issue and it ended up being bad calipers. After the calipers, i had to change the rotors and pads again which were practically new.

I had the same issue a few months back with my rear driver side caliper. Thought it was bad/warped rotors, but it was the rear caliper sticking. I had a mechanic check it out and he used a infrared laser thermometer to check the temperatures of all my rotors. Sure enough, the rear driver side rotor was 150 degrees hotter than the other 3! He then checked the pads, and the wear on the driver side pads were substantially more than the passenger side. We're talking 10% to 50% life left in the pads. Needless to say, the problem ended up being a stuck caliper which had to be replaced (We also had the rotors and pads replaced due to the sticking caliper). Fast forward 4 months, the new caliper (oem) is doing great and my brakes work fine now.

I suppose it's always possible your rotors could of warped, but it's highly unlikely; especially with only 2,400 miles.

Chances are the vibrations you're feeling are pad deposits (like Turbonut mentioned) so I'd start there. It's important to following bedding/brake in procedures when installing brakes just to help prevent things like this from happening.

If you find you're still having trouble then I might start looking at other parts of the braking system since the rotors should definitely outlive an oil change interval.
