Valve cover surprise...should I be concerned...what step to take next??
So I had previously paid a shop to replace the valve cover gaskets, then year later blew a coil pack in half & right out of the motor. A friend offered to do my spark plugs which turned into tube seals (leaking) vc gaskets looked good so reused the same ones. This went from an after work quick fix to late night parking lot (apt) repair. Long & short is put it back together & it leaked, so he took it back apart to make sure gasket wasn't pinched ect & put it together again. This time it gushed fluids, maybe coincidentally this all happened, idk but my slight PS leak was now blown, oil barley registered on dipstick & would leak out almost as fast as it was put in & for some reason my brake fluid was down & almost no brakes pedal (filled resv. & been fine) going to have to finally break down & get a rack & decided to attempt the VC gaskets myself. So starting with the difficult one first I pulled the rear cover & this is what I saw, which pissed me off & then concerned me. ..Should I be concerned, what steps do I take next if any to avoid problems once back together? Also any tricks or recommendations for getting the rear cover back on with as little cussing/yelling LOL? What I'm angry about but not sure whether it's cause for concern is 1) the bent edges on the plate/ baffe on bottom side of cover 2) the threads that appear to be jacked up for the VC cover bolts 3) a few knicks around the edge of tube seals 4) what looks like scratch on lifter from??? I did find black plastic or maybe gasket under the vc gasket, not sure where it came from but wondered if any had gotten down in motor?
