Question using non-honda engine coolant?

Is it ok to use non-honda engine coolant? Owners manual says to do so temporarily until you can get the cooling system flushed and refilled with honda coolant. It does say to use 50/50 mix. I noticed that my TL-S is way below the minimum level. I'm going out of town this weekend and want to get it taken care of so I can take me Tl. Autozone has a couple of different kinds of 50/50 mix. Prestone is the one I would choose.

Cool

I used AMSOIL coolant. It's new from them. Work great! Also water wetter from Red-line. He is rock solid no matter what the temp is. Even in stop and go traffic!!!

I'll probably pick up the prestone. I figured it was just a sales tactic to make sure that I would have to buy from Honda/Acura.

If its only the reserve tank that is low on coolant you can leave it alone and be fine. If the radiator is full to the top then don't worry about it until you can get the Honda coolant.

you do NOT want to MIX prestone and the Honda coolant. Don't! I have seen water pumps ruined by mean green in Hondas. There are major differences between the blue coolant that Honda uses and that green stuff.

If anything, add a little water or something. Don't mix the stuff.

It's always good to buy a bottle of each fluid your car uses to keep at home, you never know when you'll need it.

Agreed. Don't mix. If it's just the overflow, buy a gallon of distilled water for $1.00.
