Urgent Please Help tranny question
( I know this is the new generation forum but I believe some of you have experienced similar transmission problems)
I am looking for any advice or guidance about my situation!
My boyfriend and I have a 2003 Acura TL type-s we previously had received a letter about the transmission recall. We took the car in to be serviced and have the replacement done which went okay. Now a year later we started noticing a funny noise and the service lights went on. I came to the forums here and noticed all the warnings about the transmissions.... so we decided not to drive the car and take it Back to Acura where we initially bought it.
Now they are saying IT IS THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN BUT WE ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY ( the 7yr 100,000miles) because our VIN number isn't listed ( which is B.S. if you ask me) So they said they will call us monday and let us know what they can do. I don't understand how if we received a recall letter how our VIN number is not included? That makes no sense and I am frustrated with this Acura dealer. I also ran our VIN on the class action website and it said we were not included but we are having the same problems if not worse!
If this is our second tranny isn't it obvious that it should be included? Also we have a lot of weird technical problems I think from the computer and they are now telling us we don't have engine diagnostic! BUT ON OUR CAR INFO OR MANUAL IT SAYS WE DO! WTF...
* NOTE THE LAST TIME THEY DID A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT THEY SAID THEY WERE BEING MORE THAN NICE TO US BECAUSE OUR WARRANTY WAS UP... WHICH IS B.S. IF THEIR IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT... THEY SHOULD REPLACE IT BECAUSE THAT IS THEIR MISTAKE.... PLEASE HELP ME WE HAVE UNTIL MONDAY I AM GOING TO TRY TO FIND OUT WHY OUR CAR IS NOT LISTED OR INCLUDED THANKS ~KIM

Did you receive an actual recall letter or just a notice of the class action law suit?
If you received a letter...and they did the actual recall...how can they now claim you aren't included in the recall???

There is a difference between a recall and a service bulletin. The recall was to inspect a gear inside the trans. if it was ok then they would have put an oil jet kit on your original trans. If the gear was dark blue or black they would have replaced your trans. The service bulletin that extends the warranty to 7yrs 100k is a response to the problems with the transmission failures. During the 2003 production run they improved the 3rd gear problem and those cars produced after the fix are not included in the warranty extension.

If you are having problems with a transmission that they replaced, they should replace it again. Get in touch with Acura Customer Care, the dealer might be just yanking your chain and trying to get money.
There are many threads of Acura covering the transmission for multiple replacements. Stay after them till they do the right thing. Keep us posted regarding your progress.
