Ugh - Power steering return line replacement cost

Hi all - So my 2005 TL has a leaking power steering return line. The want about 500 dollars to replace because of the need to drop the sub-frame. I've read some threads here, looks like it can be fished but it is annoying to do. I also read on an older version that someone just replaced the hybrid metal/rubber line with a rubber fuel line since it is not a high pressure line. Wondering if anyone has done this or has any other options. Thanks.

fish it though baby and save yourself the labor. a solid rubber line might deteriorate over time especially if it goes near any major heat source.

What symptoms led to having you getting the line replaced?
