Type S 6mt rev limit question

Hey guys quick question does the 6mt type s have a rev limiter? I can seem to pass 5500rpm when I rev it parked handrake off/on.
I am asking because I had hondata on the car and I can't remeber if it did that before.
Thanks

in neutral; the car will only rev to 5500 RPM.
this goes for automatics, 6MT's, type-s' and base models

Maybe you know this or maybe you don't but there's no limiter that will save you on a botched downshift in an MT. There's been several folks that "found" third when they meant to find fifth. That lead to over-rev, which causes valve float, and damaged valves. I think the crab man himself suffered such ill when he let a friend drive his MT. Big repairs.
This thread is an awesome read BTW. https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...32-j37-915065/ It's got facts, drama, highs and lows, and a happy ending.

Also, I'm old, I still have the belief that high revving an unloaded engine (neutral) isn't a good thing. This particular belief won't really cause any problems even if it's wrong.

Here's on for the engineers at Acura

They seemed to have forgotten to put such a limiter on the 6MT. Try shifting into Neutral while cruising down the road, then turn on cruise control. The car will almost over rev if you don't stop it. I discovered this once upon a time by accident

There is no such thing as a rev limiter on a downshift, only possible on upshift. The RPM is decided by the speed at which your engine is revving, if you downshift from redline in 3rd back to 2nd you'll end up trashing everything... as crab found out.

Regarding the neutral cruise control, why are you doing that? That car expects you to be in gear haha

Discovered that by accident, not to experiment.
